New Forum :)
Thanks, Titus, for creating a new forum for FTOTM
Any questions or comments about the FTOTM can be discussed here  Here are the guidelines for submissions for those who may have missed the other postings: We are now accepting nominations and we are looking for the following: - tank must be at least six months old with some matured corals (except FOWLR) - tanks can be softie, lps, sps or a mix of any of these, as well as FOWLR and frag tanks - tanks can be any size -submissions to be that of Canreef members Every two months we will select from among the pool of nominees. Then we will decide on the theme and select a winner to be featured for that month. Submissions should be made via e-mail to Christy or Muck with the following: -two or three photos of your own tank or of someone's tank you admire -tank owner's name and size of tank |
does bi-monthly mean twice a month or once every 2 months?
|
Every two months.
|
This is a very cool idea

Why do the tanks have to be 6 months old with matured corals. Why not leave it open to all tanks. Perhaps the chosen tank for a given month could be a brand new setup just past cycle. The article could discuss what equipment was chosen (and why), how it was assembled, setup etc etc. Then this tank could be a FTOTM 6 months later to show progression, what benefits said chosen equipment has had, drawbacks, what would the owner have done diferently(if anything). Just a thought to stir the pot...... |

The FTOTM would like to showcase a diverse collection of tanks. Featuring the same tank over and over as it matures precludes the inclusion of other tanks. The old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words is appropriate in this situation. Basically, we are looking for tanks that will visually inspire other reefkeepers. Yes, a newly set up tank is wonderful for the new tank owner to marvel over, look at and tinker with. But in the long run, a newly set up tank is often a pile of rock, maybe a fish or two, some teeny tiny frags, and perhaps some fancy equipment which may not be anything special for others to look at. At six months, the corals have grown at least somewhat, if reef chemistry is carefully tended, and the tank is a more pleasing sight for others to marvel at. And if such a tank is chosen by the FTOTM Committee, the owner of the tank will have the opportunity to show off a more mature tank as well as discuss all the things he/she might have differently in the write up on the tank's features. As well, pics of the tank's growth progression over the months could certainly be included in the pics sections. Hope that helps answer your question  |

Re Icons:I don't get where your coming from, they look sad to me!
I have sent E-mail to a staff member! The add in the post was ftotm@canreef.com |
Hi Rover..
If you read the "Sticky" in this forum called Submit for FTOTM it should clear up all the confusion. This post was actually a really old post (last post before yours was 05-14-2005 08:05 AM) that probably should be deleted to avoid this in the future. Please submit your images to Christy or Muck and we will definately consider it for Sept. when we start the FTOTM back up again. Cheers Ryan |
I've fixed the original email. Sorry for the confusion but it is 2 years old
Please resend to either of the email addresses Muck has provided  |
