I dont know sorry. But I have them in my tank too and they seem to be growing. :confused:

I have them in my tanks too. Nothing to worry about imo. Probably filter feeders.

Someone id'd those for me once. Unfortunately, I can't remember. :razz: :lol:

I think they're called foraminiferans. Hope i got the spelling right. :biggrin:

Marie, you got the spelling correct. Foraminiferan. How I remember it was like this, fora mini feran. Actually most named as Homotrema rubrum. I needed to know this because many years ago I had a kindergarten and grade 1 school kids drop in for a field trip to see a living coral aquarium. One of the kid pointed that out to me on a live rock. I couldn't answer her question so I did some research. Grows mostly under rocks in my tanks. Regards Ken

I've heard that they a sign of good water quality :lol:

they are called ( red tree foram ) " homotrema rubrum"

They are perfectly fine for reef tanks. Harmless.
