Down-sizing-time! - Calgary

This isn't a FOR SALE thread, it's an announcement thread... so I'd like to keep it local for now if possible. Or at least in Alberta.

It's time for me to liquidate my 110 gallon and concentrate on the 75, so now's the time to think about getting anything you liked of mine. If you don't know or forget what I have, I'll try to get some pics up real soon.

Some of the rock is already spoken for, but there are still some corals and real nice rock, large pieces too. Almost all the LR is encrusted with at least one coral, shroom, zoo, etc.

Tangs are spoken for -whew- but I still have a GORGEOUS Lemonpeel Angel, and a Yellowtail Damsel that has been with me for a couple years.

The lights are spoken for, but the tank/stand/canopy is still available, and cheap.

PM me with requests please, or if you need some info on livestock, etc. I'd like to give preference obviously to locals, but essentially it's dibs to people I owe favours, then open season. Thanks all.

Any SPS in there Alan? I could always make a trip down to Cow-town.

Comes with a cool orange acro crab.

The other SPS are mainly leftovers: a Stag, some Caps imbedded in the LR, couple of Scroll corals... and a bunch of frags stuck in holes in the rock. Need any rock?

Richer 04-14-2005 05:38 AM

How much for the acro with the crab in it?

-Rich

mr_alberta 04-14-2005 05:38 AM

Rock you say? Hmmm, what are you looking for per pound?

Tarolisol 04-14-2005 05:55 AM

Any sort of calcium reactor going up for sale?

AJ_77 04-14-2005 06:14 AM

Acro with crab for $30, so less than I paid.

Rock is $5 per lb. (some come with corals).

No reactor, sorry.

Ryan 04-14-2005 02:08 PM

DO you have any lighting up for grabs?

AJ_77 04-14-2005 02:44 PM

Lights are sold but canopy is not, Ryan.

You can get the tank/stand/canopy for $225 OBO. (tank is 72x18x20" with 1/2" glass - comes with 2-3" mixed-grain aragonite and crushed shell sandbed).

Nice shallow 20" tank - easy to light. Could be anything from FO to SPS tank - imagine the possibilities!

Perodogo 04-14-2005 02:45 PM

 Hey there, Alan!

I PM'ed you about the Lemonpeel

Cheers!

Alan I may be interested in your tank stand canopy etc. However I would have to figure out how to move it as i drive a sunfire! Consider it sold  I also would be interested in any of the softies you may still have left or perhaps some LPS

AJ_77 04-14-2005 03:20 PM

Robb, you get a van and some buddies over here, and presto! here's some corals too:

This Candycane is truly a frosty blue colour - amazing.

I have arranged for a truck with my wife (She is going to borrow one from work). I just need to know when!

RobbAdams 04-14-2005 03:38 PM

I also would like to know about the plumbing of you set up. I currently just run a skimmer and powerheads. What will I need in order to get this tank up and running.(Pumps Etc)

Hey Alan, My girlfriend will kick my a## but I want the star fish and 2 big peices of LR as well as the frogspawn we discussed prior. Too bad about the lemon peel, you know I loved that guy!

Robb, the setup is low-tech but runs well. I use powerheads (5 MJ1200s) and a skimmer (skimmer is sold and gone already), and Aquaclear 500. So if you have a skimmer you're pretty much set - plug and play! I also have 2 Ebo-Jager heaters in there, one at each end. Powerheads and heaters are negotiable, I guess - should have mentioned those.

With a shallow tank the surface agitation easily swirls around to depth.

Did I mention it comes with sandbed?

And there's 2 little Pocillipora buds on the back wall from a spawn - anyone know how to get those off? They're tiny... would be cool if they grew into some frags like the ones reefer_11 posted for sale.

Saved you an a@@-kicking, Danny - star is sold to Tony. Rock is getting real "iffy" as of now - lots of requests. Have to see how much goes with the tank and to the first couple of buyers, OK?

Ok, keep me posted. I'm going to need some big chunks to raise up my rock hight in the new tank, its 24 inches.

RobbAdams 04-14-2005 04:40 PM

How much more for the accessories (PH's and Heaters)?

Sorry to hear about the downsize, Alan. I know how much you liked having the tangs around.

Don't you have a spotted mandarin? If so, I'd be interested in that, and maybe any softies you have left.

Right you are, Tim. The Mandarin flew the tank a while back - woops.

Softies have all moved to the 75 - sorry.

Yes and he did not post in the "Buy and Sell" at all.,. He just made an "announcement" Kudos to you Alan.

Snappy 04-15-2005 11:34 PM

Alan I guess I've gotta be quicker to get in on those deals. Fortunately I am not in the market for anything right now as I too am considering downsizing and selling off my 130 gallon and contents.

takphan 04-16-2005 06:19 AM

sorry to hear that you are downsizing :(
that tank is really beautiful

Tak

AJ_77 04-16-2005 08:22 PM

thanks tak - have a couple of frags left. i thought they were millepora, but have now been told they are likely prostrata. nice frags with blue highlights, branching yet fuzzy like a mille.

both are on one rock, one ~4" and the other ~2" long. could snap them off, but it might be safer to consider buying the rock and frags togther. (rock is about 2 lbs and has a couple striped and spotted shrooms on it as well). should also mention that Will has his eye on the rock, so it might take some negotiating.

the frags are $20 for the both, and the rock... TBA...
