Mike, he's sleeping. He'll come out soon....

Maybe he went surfing did u check around the tank?

Check the nitrates/ammonia level, if he died you should see a spike, or at least you would see an increased amount of film algae on your glass.

Also check the overflows and around the tank.

Guys, many wrasses will bury themselves for a few days before coming out. If he isn't on th ecarpet, he's in the sand still. I played this "hide the wrasse" game before!

Should you admit to this on a family board

My leopard wrasse disappeared for several days too when I first bought him so most likely nothing to worry about.

Skimmerking 03-21-2005 10:01 PM

ya that is what i thought, when i got a leopard before he was gone only for a day or so. ANd the canopy is tight all around the tank and the over flow he can't get in to have it egg crated in the durso so that is not a issue and th over flow he's not in there either.

like Reef raf said he's prob in the sand bed oh well.

ok now i'm there again no wrasse.

Is it really that strange forthe wrasse to not come out from the sand it seems that he's coming out only at night why is that.

Last time that the wrasse was out i turned on the mh to watch it. It looked around and then swam around, now hoping that the light would trigger him to see the surroundings he would come out more. Well that is not happening.

any sugguestions to do .I would hate for the fish to kick the bucket. He's my favorite.

Mine came out from 9am till 3pm every day. Very rarely did it stay out past 4:30pm. Wrasse are just strange that way & I find leopard wrasse like to keep strange hours. At the LFS, they had a hard time selling them because they never came out during opening hours.

Hopefully yours is in an established tank so it can find some nice pods & mysis running around to forage on. I would try to stay up late (who am I kidding, I do that anyways  ) & feed him some mysis or something to get him eating.

Good luck.
