Very cool Marie, I love the see through tank concept. Are you planning to add fish/corals to it?

SeaHorse_Fanatic 03-07-2005 04:44 PM

Fowlrasc (Fish only with live rock and some corals) My 100g is also a fowlrasc & I like it alot.

Great that you're getting a bigger tank. Hopefully I'll be able to see it in person in the not too distant future. :onfire:

Anthony

It's going to be mostly fish only. The corals that are in there are ones i didn't know what to do with and didn't want to throw out

Which fish are you planning on keeping in this tank?

I'm thinking of a yellow tang (there is more swimming room in this tank then there is in my 75g) and a potters angel, as well as the rotten, blankety blank, clarki clown fish that i already have

It's a 48" by 12" by 20" hagen tank. They(hagen) call it a 48g

Hehe I was thinking the same thing. I mean it looks nice and all, but I know better

I was also thinking the tank looked bigger than a 48. I love that you can view it all around.

Christy :)

And get it away from tht acro quickly, before it starts anchoring to it!! Yikes.

christyf5 05-28-2005 04:53 PM

Acro? It looks like a colt to me

But, yes, I would keep that rock on its own and watch for runners under the sand.

marie 05-28-2005 09:38 PM

 I have it on a rock completely surrounded by sand for a good reason. This isn't meant to be a reef set up and with no sump or skimmer I need something for nutrient export. I've pulled out 2 gallon buckets full of the stuff all ready and it does look nice.

It's definitely a colt coral, an acro wouldn't last a week in that tank with those two angels

Skimmerking 05-28-2005 10:34 PM

Mqrie how's the angel getting along in that tank anyways

mike

marie 05-28-2005 10:51 PM

The angel is doing great, eats everything i feed them. He's not completely reef safe, picks at the zoos and the green ends of the frogspawn, so far the frogspawn is coping . I tried a small montipora frag and the angel thought i was feeding him a special treat, not sps safe

Skimmerking 05-28-2005 11:09 PM

Marie what type of angel is tha one a regal angel

marie 05-28-2005 11:15 PM

It's a majestic angel, just in the process of changing to its adult colours

AJ_77 05-29-2005 12:27 AM

Nice pics, wow... Have you kept a Majestic Angel (Euxiphipops navarchus) before? Just beautiful.

Sand won't stop it from spreading. one word of advice, grape calurpa is one of the most toxic of the calurpas, when you are going to cut it back do it during a water change. so take some water out of the tank into a bucket, remove the rock with the calurpa from the tank and trim it over the garbage, then place it in the dirty water from the water change for about 5 or 10 min then return it to the tank and run carbon. I lost 4 fish from this stuff (but I had a massive amount which released a lot of toxins) most calurpa's if not all have been banned in California and a few other states and they are looking at more because it is a very evasive species.
