RO/DI Unit
Wondering if you all buy the unit with or without the holding tank. I'm going to order a 100gph unit from Aquasafe and I'm unsure which one to order.
Thanks in advance |
I helped make a group order for a few Edmonton people a few weeks back. Everyone except one ordered the "Aquarium" unit, only one person got one with a holding tank (Home Plus).

I will order the one without the tank. Did you all order extra cartridges too. I'm wondering how fast you go through them. |
I picked up the one with the 3.2Gal tank. I found it very effective as it basically gives me just under a 5Gal bucket (so I can run my powerhead to mix salt without splashing) before it slowes down to a trickle. The bucket is full in under 1 minute. Refills in under 1 hour (have not timed exactly) so its perfect for me to do 10% (2 buckets) water changes easily.

I bought the home plus system also. I like having the tank.

the other nice thing about the home plus is you can run it to your kitchen sink and have drinking water at any time...and for the couple of dollar difference I think it is worth it.

What does the Home plus system cost

Aquarium unit
I purchased the aquarium unit in the Edmonton order. I ran a quarter inch line directly to a float valve in my sump, I then spliced in a tee with a shut off valve at the ro unit for drinking water. I fill 18L jugs and have ro water on hand at all times.

I have the tank its good to have. I also have it hooked to my fridge for drinking water too. The tank gives you a bit of water in researve and when you nee it, its there. I would get it now saves you the trouble of getting one later. I also got the case of filters i find I only have to change them once / year. Once again nice to have on hand.

My maximus 100 gpd arrived this week and it is still sitting in boxes, everything is attached I just havn't had the nerve to pierce the pipe. It is a bit overwhelming for a novice to try to break a line and do the basic plumbing.
Does anyone know of a reasonable plumber who is familiar with this hook up? Also, does anyone drink the RO and DI water or would you recommend only the RO water for drinking? |
Some people say the rodi taste funny. I have drank both and really do not find a difference. If your worried about piercing the line, there are other options. I hooked my RODI up in the laundry room and made a great 'refill station'. There are regular tap adapters available so all you need is a Y splitter available at Home Depot or Canadian Tire for about $1.00. Then just split off your cold water line for your washing machine.

Anyone have a direct link to purchase the home system???

With the 100gpd Auqusafe, say for Edmonton City water, how much water could you put through the membrane before replacement, what about the DI cartridge?
