Black PVC in town

Anyone know of any plumping places with a big selection of black PVC fittings?
Thanks
Dave

I didn't know PVC came in black.
Are you sure you are not talking about ABS..?

Actually it's a dark grey and yes it's PVC.

Dave if you find a place please be sure to post it here for future reference.

Have you checked Western International Plastics yet?

Call me nuts... but isn't the dark grey stuff CPVC? Suppose it doesn't really matter, CPVC is just approved for hot water instead of cool...

The dark Grey PVC is Schedule 80 where as the white PVC is Schedule 40. The difference is the pipe wall thickness. The Sch80 is a little thicker and can handle slightly higher pressure.

You should be able to get Sch80 PVC at any major plumbing supplier like Emco or the like. Take a look in the Yellow Pages and see what major companies are in your area.

Try Wolseley Plumbing (formerly Westburne)

I called every where nobody has any. It's is odd, I received some stuff from Oceansmotion and it all had dark grey/black PVC schedule 40. Dropped him a email and he said he can get it at most any plumping supply place in Ontario, it's common. So who knows, on the phone every one thought I was an idiot and said it doesn't even exist.

So white PVC plumping inside the tank no black. :frown:

Dave

Edit
Andy OK your nuts just don't ever show me

Muck tried them first no go

Do you have a Fabco Plastics in Calgary? They should carry it. (Sch40 dark grey)
If not, there is one in Edmonton here. Maybe someone would be nice enough to haul it down for you...

monza 02-10-2005 10:07 PM

Muck, the Fabco plastic listed in the Calgary book is from Edmonton,
so when I have more time I'll order some up from them. I guess I'll try some other plastic places in town in the mean time.
thanks alot!

Hey Dave,

You can try Plumbateria 4203 Brandon St. S.E. (just off of 42nd Ave, East of Macleod) they often have some dark grey PVC in there.

A company in the US named "Spear" makes sch. 40 pvc in grey, which is why you often get it in equipment shipped up from the US. My Euroreef skimmer has all grey PVC components.

If you know anyone in the US or someone going down south it is pretty widely available in most of the home improvement retailers down there.

I know a place out here already has the grey Schedual 40 PVC fittings but they say it is going to be a while for the pipe

What's wrong with ABS? It's sch80. Is pvc less toxic or something?
