looking for forum member to help out with basic tank set up, etc
looking for a fellow forum member with picking up a tank ( might need a pick up truck) experience of setting up a tank ,helping me seed some media (fo tank or fowlr, still haven't fully decided, and also couple steady hardy fish ,so I can basically have my new tank ready to go once it arrives. will have to be probably a week day thing and at the beginning of July. The fact of why it sounds rush is because I'm not in town that long and will be only here to set up and the tank is a surprise gift for the old man.
of course a nice meal and payment for your time will be in order plus whatever expenses needed , unless you prefer the more suitable friendly hand shake  pm for details cheers |
no one wants to help a poor soul out?

Sorry, I'm not in your neck if the woods. ;)

Honest answer ...
You need to make some connections with us members before you can start asking for this kind of help. Your best bet right now would be to employ Raf and his team to help you out. Raf is a CanReef member. Get in touch with him if you're in a hurry. I've met some great peeps here over the years, and I'd do anything for them, within reason. If you were one of them, my truck and I would be there for you anytime. Of the over 200 people I've met on CanReef, I can think of a few who could call me anytime day/night for help and I'd be there no questions asked. Then there's probably a couple dozen people I'd help the next day if they needed me. And all the rest I've met, I'd do my best to answer their questions, steer them in the right direction, and maybe even give them a home visit to help if it worked out for me. Good luck with your plans for your Old Man, and make some CanReef friends. |

Get some dry Marco Rock from JL and dump bacteria in and wait a few weeks for the cycle to complete then you know you have a clean tank inside |

So how big is this tank?
Drilled with sump? What exactly would someone be getting into here? |
tank is from concept , about a 90 gallon tank, I'm not too sure how I'll be getting it from Dave, if all the pipes are already glued on etc, if not then I'll need a helping hand with that. should be just a easy plug and play type deal. no extra tools needed but some glue I assume. would need some guidness help setting up the skimmer as I never used one. apparently there's some break in period and a sweet spot where it skims the best ?
then last but not least some of your tank water / seeded media which of course needs to be pest free to super blast this bad boy. i know its not the best way to cycle but my time is limited. all together I assume it won't take more than an hour or 2 . |
this sounds less and less like a 1 day job...
|
Rushing a cycle is a recipe for disaster. Just saying.
|
:juggle:
|
I wouldn't glue any PVC and run water through the same day either...
|
with the amount of nails concept uses (not a diss here), its gonna take more than an hour to unbox, then you gotta move tank stand sump to location cut pipin etc.
might need more than 1 other person to move the tank. and +1 to rushing cycle = no good. |

Agreed my tank and sump took me like 2 hours to unbox … Would rather it extra protected then less but holy crap someone loves a screw gun and staple gun !
|
thanks for the replies guys, i'll have everything opened and unboxed myself. i'll just need an expert to help me set up, as for the glue part i'm not sure if it will be needed or not? so of course if there is a glue situation then i wouldn't be putting in water all that quick.

I'll help you.
Send me a PM, lets discuss what you plan on doing. This can be a scary hobby to enter, i can help you take some of that fear away. A bit of detritus added to your aquarium would help seed it. There's lots of misleading info out there. I've made a lot of the newbie mistakes. I'd be happy to help you avoid them. Cheers-MM Join 420 reefkeepers on facebook.
