PC bulb ballasts?
I was wondering where to go for a ballast that will run PC bulbs 55 or 65 watt 2 of them and also where to get end caps and stuff. Preferably in south calgary.
|
I'd go with a workhorse ballast, you can get them at BriteLite. Ok, it's not in the south but the drive to the NE is worth it for the ballast.
I don't know where you can get endcaps locally though, never gone looking, sorry can't help on that one. I'm sure J&L or premiumaquatics, or SWC or MOPS sell them, however, if you're willing to go MO for them. |
Britelite sells the caps as well

Well it looks like im headin up north again blah, so far. anyone no how much a work horse ballast costs? :puppydog:
|
Around $65 for a workhourse 7 (I think) which is good for 220 watts a workhours 5 is good for 110 watts...endcaps are around 3$/peice.
|
Well i would assume they are cheaper then 65 since aquaria.ca sells them for 49.99 and ushully fish store have a larger mark up.

"Litemor" can supply ballasts and sockets. In the south end too...
|
wheres litemore?
|
They are kinda near Chinook Centre. I think the complex is called "Builder's Park." Incidentally that's where Industrial Paints and Plastics (IPP) is, if you're ever looking for misc acrylic offcuts or whatever.

Yeah i got all my acylic for my BIY skimmer from IPP so i guess ill head over to litmore and see about a ballast

Some Good News? Home Depot just agreed to buy Litemor. Will lighting equipment prices go down? At least, it'll be easier to get lighting equipment (VHO and PC) now since there are Home Depots everywhere. Bad news of course is that the number of Canadian businesses keep dwindling as they keep getting aquired by US companies. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050105/clw011_1.html |
Actually I'm not sure what I think of that. I could see the selection at Home Depot not changing what-so-ever, and the Litemore's just closing ... thus leaving us with one fewer place to find the specialty lighting stuff. That's just my pre-second-cup-of-coffee-in-the-morning-pessimism :morning: though, hopefully that won't happen.
