Finally, quality shots of my corals - KPG007

I've been taking pictures of my corals for some time with mixed results. I finally went out and bought a top quality, and highly rated, point and shoot camera - the Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100 II.

The color and quality of the pictures is amazing, so good that I decided to share a bunch in this album.

Diablo Milli - I've had this guy a while. The colors really pop in this photo:

RR Needle in a Haystack - Wow, closeups are sometimes better then real life:

Tyree Blue Matrix - Nice shot of this difficult coral. Fast, hardy grower, but tough to get the color looking good:

Branching Cyphastea - Likes lower light with the base going from green to peach color:

Pink Jade - A slower grower, until it's happy, but then, watch out! Amazing colors in this pic:

True Undata - Love the colors in this one!:

Pink Jade - A slower grower, until it's happy, but then, watch out! Amazing colors in this pic:

Limeade Naustuda - A slower grower, until it's happy, but then, watch out! Amazing colors in this pic:

Cali Acro - Similar colors to a Cali Tort, but grows in a bush instead of a long branch. A beautiful piece:

Rainbow Pocci #1 - Got this guy as a little frag. Awesome colors with the light pink base and darker green polyps:

Bird of Paradise - Super nice picture! Purple Polyps pop way more then in real life:
http://members.shaw.ca/kgrimm/BirdOfParadise.jpg

RR Hot Sauce - Got this from Ryan as a reddish stump. It's starting to really come to life!:

Aussie Delight - I've had this for probably 4 years. Nice color, but very little growth. IT finally found a good home and is putting a ton of branches (finally):

Rainbow Pocci #2 - Another variation of Rainbow pocci. The pink is a little brighter with the lighter green polyps:

Neon Birdsnest - A classic. Love the bright polyps:

Purple Planet - It took a while to get this guy growing, but it was definitely worth it:

Looks great Kelly! I might need to buy one of those Sunburst BTAs sometime - they sure are gorgeous! The new camera is taking some really nice photos that look true to life by my judgement. :)

The sunburst BTA's really do have fantastic color, well worth the $300 price tag.
I've had mine for two years and it refuses to split. It's huge too, lol.

Nicely done Kelly. They are looking really good.

Nice pics Kelly, I still think the vibrancy is better in person... But the clarity of the pics are great!

Thanks for all the kind word everyone!

Here is another favorite. It has no official name and I have no idea where I got it. Can't decide weather to call it Purple Rainbow or Masterpiece. Both suit this one.

Here it was a few years ago:

I lost all but a couple small frags in a tank crash. It has slowly crawled back from the brink and has turned in to this:

Amazing how time, lighting and water conditions can change a coral.

I have not been here for a few years and it is amazing what I see. Those SPS are just amazing. Amazing colors! I knew I should not have been visiting here because now I just want to start another saltwater tank. This is just amazing! well, I am repeating myself :)

DKoKoMan 01-17-2017 10:17 AM

i really want one of those sunburst! BTW those photos are very nice and the corals look great... jealous!

You've got a lot of great looking Acropora in your tank! Glad to hear the new camera is working out well. I know the frustration of taking photos, loading them on the computer and having none of the colors look even close to what the corals look like in reality.

KPG007 01-19-2017 06:46 AM

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Funny, I'll still take 50 shots to find 5 good ones, but thats better then 50 for 1 good one!

Always lots of things to keep this hobby interesting
