what are your other hobbies and interests?
my primary interest is computing...I like learning about the new tech and what it does/can do. it's almost my job...so that's kinda cheating.
next up is astronomy. I just purchased an 8" Schmidt Cassegrain...the Celstron NexStar Evolution Edge 8 HD. also in my kit is a Sky Watcher 80mm ED refractor, a Celestron 90mm Maksutove Cassengrain and in preparation of the 2017 solar eclipse (totality viewable out of Oregon) a Lunt 60HA solar scope. next up would be shooting. not for sports, just recreation and relaxation. recoil therapy, as my brother coined it, is quite fun! I'd like to get in to microscopy, but I've no room for the equipment. :( |
JETSKI aka my submarine

yeah, I used to mountain bike too...up until 1998 when I crashed going 80km/h down a trail in Kamloops.
I woke up 2 weeks later in the hospital and was told the story. lucky I had a friend with me, otherwise I would have died. as it was I had to be transported to the hospital via medi-vac. I remember nothing. in fact, a lot is missing from before too. as I put it, August 21st, 1998, a day I'll never remember but a date I'll never forget. :twised: |

A jetski is to a crotch rocket as a Seadoo is to a Harley Davidson... you can do a lot of tricks on a jetski and you stand up when riding, where a Seadoo is more for people to just sit down and cruise around

tells you what I know of water sports, LOL!

i am not a health nut my main hobbies are being fat and lazy
Secondary hobbies are Flying(on hold till medical sorted out) online gaming (WOW(retired from it) Diablo3 and Battlefield series, coffee hound |
Hunting, Shooting, Archery, Fishing, Glamping (camping in style), Flying (when I get enough $$ again), Ice Fishing, and started into Golf this year.
I also have a 7 year old that is in hockey, so that takes a bit of time. |
Besides fw & sw & now a brackish water aquarium, I also do a lot of gardening (33 fruit trees & 20 varieties of berries), as well as collect citrus trees (50+ and counting). We also keep quails and a lop ear bunny. Now that Isabella is old enough to appreciate it, we will be camping a lot more and doing more day trips into the countryside.

I have way too many hobbies for my own good :(
Running, Biking (mountain and road), Guitar, Tin Whistle, building scale models (mostly space ships and mechas), Pokemon (the card game), Camping (tent), fishing, Lego, Koi Pond, Orchids. |
Drag racing a turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa at the drag strip, ripping around in my sports car, crossfit athlete, shooting, hunting, fishing...
|
Gardening (flowers & vegetables), fishing, reading. I plan to buy some cross country skis this year. When I lived in BC I loved downhill mountain biking like some of you, but the SK prairies are not conducive to it.

it's very cool to see so many outdoors people on the forums here, one's that hunt and shoot.
I know it can be a sensitive or divisive topic at times, but it's great to see that it's more prevalent than I realized. of course, it shouldn't have been a surprise, about 10% of Canada's population hold firearm licensing and certification! for those of you that shoot for fun, what do you shoot? |

yes, I perforate paper on a semi-regular basis. I often shoot quite a bit in the summer because the weather is cooperative.
I'll be joining the Abbotsford range soon and their pistol ranges are actually heated, so that might make for a more productive winter as well. I do enjoy a good game of skeet. haven't shot lately as I don't have a shotgun I like. :P |
|
Recently, I joined the 3d printing scene. It nicely compliments my engineering and design side.

Just remember though, both money and time are simply a matter of planning. You can do whatever you want, if you are capable (and flying really isn't that hard to learn) and you really want it. But don't wait too long... |
