Neptune Next Generation is here! HUGE NEWS

Hello everyone,

We are please to announce that Neptune is ready to launch their next generation Apex controller!

http://www.reefsupplies.ca/online-st...ion-canada.jpg

This new unit has some exciting new features such as built in WIFI. It comes complete with Probes for Temperature, pH, ORP, and Salinity. The pH and ORP probes are now double-junction as well so they hold calibration longer and have a longer lifespan than single-junction probes.

It also includes the new Energy Bar 832: This Energy Bar 832 was redesigned from the ground up. Not only does it have eight 120V AC outlets, but it includes an internal 100W 24VDC power supply as well. That power supply feeds three built-in 1LINK ports as well as two 24VDC accessory ports. Each individual outlet has power monitoring and there are individual LED indicators for each outlet. Read on and watch the videos for more info.

There is sooooo much more. Its best that you check out their website here https://www.neptunesystems.com/apex-2016/

Here is a video as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYIYYrpC4z0

This is good news for everyone, even those that are currently using the classic Apex. All Neptune modules such as but not limited to the DOS, AFS, WAV, PM's, ALD.....will still work with the new generation.

We are currently taking pre-orders, here is the link http://www.reefsupplies.ca/online-st...e-Package.html

best regards,

Ray Franchi

Nice looking unit Ray. I've been debating on trying out a controller someday and was liking the looks of the Aquatronica Deluxe Touch model but wasn't keen on the power bar and it seems it freezes up if you leave the touch screen on. Now this one comes out at about the same price with a more functional powerbar and only one interface instead of three. Hopefully Neptune didn't rush this out the door to compete. Now I just gotta convince the wife why it's needed when I've done without one for years.

All it is, is just grey and orange plastic.
Why did they need to do this because they ran out of customers and want everybody to buy again.
Two thumbs down.
Going Vertex all the way

I wasn't aware Vertex actually has a controller ready for market. When was it released?

Thanks for the video. Looks like another month before we see it. I hope that giant box isn't their actual production model.

You can play video games on that thing

Built in wifi??!!!??! Wow a $3 add on!!!!!!!! I was dumbfounded when I dropped a grand for the apex and auto feeder and how dinosaur age the hardware and software was.

intarsiabox 05-25-2016 03:31 AM

I think the new software interface is the selling point. Current owners probably won't care but people in the market for a new controller will probably like the touch screen simplicity offered now by Neptune among others. The older style which had people digging through menus to find and change things is pretty archaic by todays standards and this brings them more up to date and able to compete with other controllers that have already or are in the process of updating as well. I don't think it offers more functionality than the old controller, just simplicity for new users. The Vertex controller will be interesting to see as well.

heh, we get 1-2 order a day that leave comments like "do NOT include invoice in box" I guess unlike you, they would rather hide it for the wife.

John, why not tell us how you really feel? Don't hold back

Colour is irrelevant, it could have been pink for all I care. Ok, maybe not pink... :-)

They did this because like every other item know to man, there is always room for improvement. Technology advances as do the products.

Its not just wifi, there is a LOT more and at the same price as the classic Gold. Same price + more features = winner.

It includes:

New Apex Base Unit
New Energy Bar 832
New, Lab grade, double-junction pH and ORP probes
Lab grade salinity probe
Temperature Probe
Salinity and pH Calibration Solutions

Plus.....

Built in wifi: 802.11g/n

Easier set-up: They now have a new initial setup procedure that will link you to the Apex, connect it to your Wi-Fi, and link the controller with Apex Fusion

No more firmware update: It now uses the "Apex Operating System" Neptune will notify you if an update is available and ask if you would like to apply it now or schedule it for a later time. it is as simple as “Push this Button.” to update.

The list goes on and on...have a look at their video on our FB page here https://www.facebook.com/ReefSupplies/

There was some confusion about backwards compatibility they said it wasen't at first but now they say it is. Strange

It's a two way street, she has to let me know when she wants to buy stuff too. In the end we both usually get what we want without the fighting. She didn't mind that I put a $200 light bulb order in with you yesterday so she not completely unreasonable.

Jordon 05-26-2016 02:18 AM

Can we get confirmation that the double junction probes will be compatible with the now "Classic" units?

It has to be a two way street! Thanks for the bulb order

Confirmed. As you know, Apex now includes double junction, lab grade pH and ORP probes. These will also be sold separately and are compatible with all Apex Systems and PM1 modules.

Also, new Apex uses the same AquaBus standard used on the Apex Classic and all of the modules and accessories that have been released for it. Should you purchase the new Apex, all of these items will work with the new Apex.

Thanks

Dearth 05-26-2016 07:59 PM

I don't know whether to be angry or go in the corner and cry I like my Apex but it is such a nightmare to program and update the firmware

Now after dropping a grand last year on it a newer better version is dangled in front of my face for another grand.

So do I cry or do I punch a brick wall in anger.......

shiftline 05-26-2016 08:16 PM

I find it pretty easy to program through fusion. I love automation!

I should of clarified it was a royal pain to initially program and get everything working properly after it was setup it became easier to program

This pretty much sums it all up \https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANC5ZSlODfQ
It will be nice to see the new video Bulkreefsupply comes out with this friday for the cerebra
Turns out the new energy bars are not backward compatible.

Yes, that is what we have been saying from day one. The only item that can not be shared with the classic is the new energy bar.

The new probes can be used with the classic and the existing modules can be used with the Next Gen.

Did you get them yet. Since I already bought a jr can I hook that up to the new model

We received our first batch and sold right around 200% of that (We wish we had this problem with all our lines LOL).

The second batch will be here in in 7-10 days and there should be enough to last a good month.

You can not hook up a JR to it since the JR is a controller as well. You cant really have two controllers.

have you opened it up yet? We'll be glad to take it back if you have not.

Bugger 06-29-2016 11:39 PM

I opened it. Looks like I will be using this on a quarantine tank. Are you going to be getting those new IM dropoff and circle tanks.
