Canreef Classified Guidelines
Hello everyone,
As promised, the staff here at Canreef have reviewed the classified rules - specifically the buy & sell limits. We ran these new rules for 5 months, and after discussions with Titus (the forum owner) we have decided the limit rules may be popular with some Vendors, but are not in Canreef member's best interests. Effective immediately, there will no longer be buy & sell limits for hobbyists. We have also gone through the rules, pruned them down, and would like to refer to them as guidelines because who likes rules? :D New guidelines: http://www.canreef.com/vbulletin/sho...d.php?t=114843 Please do note that commercial sales are still not allowed, and you may find the definition easy to understand. Thank you for your continued support, the many great PMs we've all received, and we look forward to improving Canreef everyday. |
Well that's pretty cool! Thanks for running with this!

So thanks to them, and the loyal members that trusted us to come to our senses one day :) |
Indeed, thanks goes to everyone who provided continued feedback as well. We hope this shows that your comments and concerns are not falling upon deaf ears. So keep them coming ! In an orderly, constructive and polite manner, please and thank you

Good to here. Myself I believe that this make the forum more geared toward a hobbiest community rather than a business opportunity.
Good job mods |

Please send us PMs! We get lots of PMs, so don't be shy! Whether it's something you like or something you dislike, whether you're a regular poster or a lurker, your ideas and views are important to us. |
Could the Buy / sell be put back into the "Active posts" section on the homepage too then?
As the forum is powered by hobbyists, the buy/sell populating the front page drives visitors to that section, as well as those who are just looking to buy / sell to other posts. |

I actually looked at that this morning, and based on the number of buy/sell posts, I felt it would far outweigh the reef related posts. I think, for a board primarily aimed at the hobby and board as an information resource, it would detract from the theme of what we want to do. That said, I always navigate from the New Posts link in the top menu as Warren described, and they are all displayed in that list. We can discuss, but my vote would be to leave it as it. We did remove the vendor announcements highlights to facilitate the presentation of reef info, so replacing with reef sales and toys might defeat what we're trying to do :) |

Can't make everyone happy, haha. |

But ya, you can't make everyone happy, and I think more come here for info over deals. I hope that's the case anyway -lol |

I vote leave as is.
I click on "new posts" as well and it serves me well, I get classified, which I can skip if I want, and discussions |
After coming back to the hobby I just shook my head when I read the new rules, anpther friend and long time canteef member just laughed. I always wondered what brought on thpse strict rules regaurding buying and selling. Its sad the see the good ol days of RCC complaining about the classifieds hasnt gone away, just switched vendors. Guess nothing has changed in the way the vendors treat the hobbiest. Only your friend until you start selling coral you got from them, then it turns cut throat. Sad to see.

Another thing I thought about, not in time of course, is that almost every single higher volume seller is also a higher volume purchaser. What vendor complaints did was drive away their biggest customers from their advertising. Nobody stopped selling frags, they just sold them places where the vendors had no presence. Overall, about 5 kinds of silly on all sides.
Anyway, we're back to the old days, sell frags, trade frags, buy frags and get involved with your fellow hobbyists. Have fun. Remember "fun" ? And let's face it, even with the highest volumes we see here, we're still jumping all over new stuff when the vendors post new stock. What I sell from my tank, I replace from March's tank. |

I vote leaving it as is. The "new posts" link is just as easy to navigate and serves its purpose well.

Well said Brad !!! It's the circle of life lol. The more frags I sell on here , the more money I spend ordering new stuff from vendors. I'd be confident saying every penny I make selling frags I put back into buying more corals or equipment lol. |
I like it the way it is.. I bookmarked the classied section and active threads separately on my phone. What I want will depend on what link I click.
I am glad to see the vendors ads at top of page gone though. Like every other thread it will show in active threads |
