My first tank journal Woot Woot...! So this tank has been wet for almost 9 months now.

Excuse the crappy cellphone pics, hopefully I'll dust off the dslr on day.

WarDog 11-26-2015 09:50 PM

This is one of the nicest tanks on the west coast. Finally we have a tank journal to enjoy it! Nice work Mike!

Aquattro 11-26-2015 10:00 PM

"crappy cell phone pics" - ya, right!! :)

Looks amazing!

Ryanerickson 11-26-2015 10:17 PM

Nice buddy this tank is very impressive in person. It should be the next tank of the year nothing on the west coast beats it as for sps color and variety.
Thanks for sharing Mike !

hunggi74 11-26-2015 10:46 PM

Well it's about time Mr.! Completely agree that this tank is the pride of the West Coast! Need to get it out there for all to see. Can't wait for your even "better" pics. And all the juicy details on how you run your system so I can try to get a fraction of the color and growth you got. The real "Magic Mike" lol

mikepclo 11-26-2015 11:41 PM

Thanks guys!

So tank is 48x30x19 by Concept and sump 36x24x16.

Well HELLO! Dang, that's something to behold.

Myka 11-27-2015 01:10 AM

About time you shared it here! :D It's only looking better and better. Did you do a tank transfer, or are all the corals in the tank 9 months old?

Thanks! Sold off pretty much 90% corals from previous 120g but kept frags of each one. I kepted them in my 55g frag tank which I turned into display for 5-6 months but ran out of space pretty quickly. So my downsizing plan went out the window and this tank was born. I transfered the contents to this current tank.

Yes. I'm sure your girlfriend was super excited to hear that you were downsizing...until you got another tank to go with the frag tank.

More coral pics please. We know you have the goodies!

Majority transfered over now.

Ermagerd! stunning stuff Mike!

gregzz4 11-27-2015 05:09 AM

Awesome pics Mike

How do you (did you before your tank change) deal with all the SPS encroaching/fighting?

F.H 11-27-2015 08:46 AM

Amazing tank Mike, I look forward to seeing it in person sometime. I'm going to start saving up for a "visit Mike" day haha.

Rice Reef 11-27-2015 05:28 PM

Best tank in the West! Good Job Mike and thanks again for the OT and KB!

Thanks! I let them figure it out lol. But some pcs I've noticed they grow away from neighbouring pcs =)

Tank finally arrived but like this! And it wasn't even mine just some poor guys broken sump =(

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9ghdn4ls.jpg

They got our tanks mixed up so another week till mine showed up.

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...psw4vlwega.jpg

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...psfmdkplkd.jpg

Glad it showed up in one pc =)

I went with 60x60 Bosch T-slot for the stand from Surrey fluid power. Just a little bit overkill

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...soyhgtfib.jpeg

Marine Starboard for the sump to relax on.

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42yqgcx2.jpg

http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/...pssmpgdww0.jpg

Everything was through Surrey fluid. Starboard wasn't cut correctly and had to take time off work to recut it. Sh*t happens... Alot. Oh well

Looks awesome. How much did the extruded aluminum stand cost to build?

Curious on that too. Not that I'm likely to ever build again, but if I do, this is sleek.

Not too sure about shipping but they are located in Surrey so not too far of a trip for me.

Thanks bud! Yours white or black silicone?I've been told white is more visible than black that's why I went with black.

Thank you sir!

Oh, didn't even notice. Guess bigger if better when it comes to DC pump controllers? I dunno... It's really light though. Feels empty inside lol

Here's what I came up with for aquascape. Nothing fancy....I tried using straps and reef cement but that didn't work out. So I ended up using JB Waterweld from Home Depot.

hunggi74 01-19-2016 05:22 AM

The sweaty palms, the fluttering heartbeat, the burnt retinas, the tinge of jealousy are all normal symptoms when you see this tank in person. Pics can't even come close to doing this tank justice. Unless you had a Canon with a $3k lens attachment and a Porthole....or just knew someone with those...

mseepman 01-19-2016 03:15 PM

Wow, that display looks amazing. I have an sps tank and i'm wondering how do you keep them all from attacking each other? Mine are in perpetual warfare.

riceboy 01-19-2016 04:31 PM

I agree tank of the month for sure absolutely beautiful, how do u keep coraline of the back acylic
