Stories from Surrey
Seemings as how I'm bored today and there's another thread about some shootings, I'll tell you guys some stories about living in Compton. I mean Surrey. All the stories are true, probably not supposed to be funny but what the hell.
#1. Come out one morning to go to work at 5am and there's a bum sleeping in the backseat of my car. (Doors stay unlocked so junkies don't smash windows) Tell him to gtfo or I'll call cops. #2. Wife wakes up at 230am in morning to find 2 bastards on my roof staring in my window. Cops #3. Cat has poop house and it gets full. Put poop house outside and someone stole it. #4. I've gotten at least 7+ pairs of shoes/work boots stolen of front door step in broad daylight. #5. Walk dog at Surrey lake, come back put dog in house, go to get rest of stuff out of car. Guy in car stealing change. Chase him to a fence, he jumps fence in 2 steps. I jump through fence panels (too lazy to go over). He's crying and running, cops called. Cops catch douche 2 blocks away. #6. At Safeway with daughter. Man comes running out door with security in chase. Asshat runs daughter over and receives high kick in the lips from me. Got one l!!! cops called. #7. Outside drinking beers at 130am. Man parks next to my car and starts injecting heroin and talking in devil tongue. I tell him to gtfo. Man pulls gun and points in face. Cops called. I could go for hours. Probably shoulda moved years ago. |

How have you not movEd? Especially with a familyfamily. This is a serious question

With the housing market the way it is right now. It's hard not to buy a house in surrey. You can get a brand new home in surrey for the same price as a 25 year old comparable home in burnaby or coquitlam. But then quality of living gets compromised.

living in burnaby is never having to say your surrey

How about working on the tank around 10pm on a Friday night & hearing what sounds like a string of firecrackers, only to find out it was a driveby shooting at the house next door. About 20-30 shots/bullets.

It's only a matter of time until someone's little kid or an innocent gets killed. 20-30 shots and not a single person gets hit won't last forever.
|
Oh, 2 people got hit where they were shooting. Just not sure if they were the intended targets though.
|
It may be going through a string of gun crime at the moment and somewhat frequently throughout history, but please show a bit of respect to those of us that live here. You may not like it, but for me its still home.
I work in West Van and there was a body cut into 100 pieces up there, and a girl pushed off the lions gate bridge within a month. I would imagine you would still like to live there, finances permitting of course! |
Coquitlam is where it's at but if in any case some one breaks into my house I will have a few surprises for them. Say hello to my little friend which is my ar223 and ar308 along with a remington 870.
Here is a little reading from news 1130 I thought might be interesting. How far can you go in defending your home and family from an intruder? LOCAL by TREENA WOOD AND ALISON BAILEY Posted Jul 14, 2015 11:14 am PDT SUMMARY Criminologist says if someone breaks into your home, the Criminal Code gives you a lot of latitude METRO VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A man has been charged with murder in a crime that has shocked the region. Khouri Green is accused of shooting Colin Hill as he broke into his home. Hill was at home with his family at the time of the attack late Sunday night. Criminologist Neil Boyd says this type of crime, where the victim dies in his own home and didn’t know his attacker, is relatively rare in Canada. “It’s always a worry, of course, for people to hear a noise, hear of somebody breaking in. It’s somewhat neighbourhood-dependent. The more vulnerable neighbourhoods are more prone to an attack,” he explains. Boyd says when it comes to these circumstances, the Criminal Code gives you a lot of latitude. “Obviously, you’re not going to shoot somebody who’s [just on] your property, but if you use deadly force in defense of your home, it’s extremely unlikely that you would be held accountable.” Green has been charged with second-degree murder. In general the law actually allows you to defend yourself with the same amount of force being applied. For example knives against knives, guns against guns. Going beyond that can actually get you in trouble. Furthermore using any restricted or prohibited weapons in self defense will definitely get you criminal charges. The argument is you can't possibly retrieve such weapons in time if properly stored. So stick with the good old fashioned shotgun and keep a clean toy pistol around for planting.

I lived in Surrey once. Guy tried to steal my car, couldn't get it started. Guy comes back next night, removes ignition, couldn't get it started. I take it to shop for repairs (in Surrey), probably same guy tries to steal it again, can't get it started but does relieve me of 5k stereo system. Glad I moved :)

Don't you live in langley anyways dunc?

Scary stuff! Anyone still driving around with one of these?
http://attaboy.ca/images/misc/bestplaceonearth.jpg Might not be all that appropriate based on what I'm reading in this thread. Link to an article from a few years ago, but seems apropos & not much has changed to improve the situation. Time to move to northern Saskatchewan I reckon, but it's burning up.... http://thetyee.ca/Mediacheck/2011/10...lace-On-Earth/ .... or why not the US of A, most states allow you to pack pretty well any form of "heat" that tickles your fancy. |
Despite being named crime capital of Canada 2 years running a few years ago here I still feel safer living here than anywhere in the lower mainland.
|
Nope, Surrey. I lived in Langley before.
|
I lived in Chicago for 4 years, felt safer walking around that city ( 1000 + murders a year) than the lower mainland, there is a special kind of people here. Thankfully most of the gangbangers here learned how to be a thug by watching Boys in the Hood, and shoot sideways. Unfortunately they also are mentally unstable ( insecure) which makes them unpredictable.

I can remember being around 15 or so and coming home from my parents cabin at Christmas time, and the whole house basically got cleaned out. And they lived @ 96th and 176th (farmland). So it's always been bad, but it's getting much worse. Go behind the pink flamingo (dirty bird) and have a smoke. You'll see what I mean.
|
Dirty bird is in a real nice part of town
|
But surrey is/was home to one of the best strip clubs i have ever been to! T bars!! Tremendous! :D
