And you think you've got a birdsnest problem
|
Wow! Wider than a 5 gal pail. How long did it take to get that big?
|
I would say no more than 2 years from a small frag. I wish everything grew as fast as this thing

Think of all the for sale posts selling Frags I could start if everything were to grow that fast! I'd be rich!

ya those things are weeds. I literally throw out bucket loads of those every month. It's actually kind of annoying because if you think about it they are sucking up and depleting a lot of valuable nutrients and minerals (alk/calc) that other corals could be using.

How about them apples, 44 gallons brute tube and it had to go in sideways cause it just didn't fit. |
I think those apples win. Although, really were both losers!

Holy Mother of Megazod !!
Think of all the good that beast could do in a calcium reactor. It's the circle of life! |

Maybe Kiens right, watch this space in the future for a free giant birds nest to a good home
|
Here's a thought. If you remove something that aggressive and large, how will that have an effect on how much you dose the tank or have to re set a calcium reactor?
|
I would imagine it would. I bet that thing represents 40% of my Coral mass in my tank. If I take it out then I would definitely be double checking my levels for a while to make sure I could dial my dosing back in

I took this pic today of a client's birdnest. It was a 2" frag less than a year ago. The tank is 18" wide.

my birdsnest was also insane. it didnt fit out the top of my 4x2x2 tank with center brace without breaking brances off. i fragged him down to 'nothing'and hes atleast 7-8 big colonies worth.
