Jl fails yet again.
Waited for a fish for 6 months and came in today to find out it was on hold for someone else.
Well done jl This puts a big x in your name from my point of view. |
If you ordered the fish 6 months ago then why didn't you speak to Jeff when you were there and get it sorted?

Because Katy said that no one changed the hold till today and nothing she could do for me.
If I can help it I won't go to JL again. |
JL has been really good catering to my special orders, contact Jeff to sort it out, I am sure he will make it right.

Sometimes you just need to move on and try other stores for a while. Maybe you will find something better or you will find out J&L isn't that bad.
I understand the anger though as I just called and yelled at canada post for once again not delivering a package and I have to go pick it up. |
I had a fish put on "hold" for three days. They put him in a seperate tank from everyone else's and marked it on the tank. Came back three days later and he was sold. In my case, there were lots still of the same fish to choose from, but it does happen and I agree that Jeff will try to make it right.

JL is a pretty big shop, errors do happen. I have dealt with Jeff and John, both go out of their way to make things right.

Belive me I know errors happen.
But when they are pointed out to you and you choose not to fx it. That's completely different. The first pink streaked wrasse died the night before I went to pick it up I was ok with it. S**t happens. But this time I'm ticked off. |

All I can say is I wish J&L was located in Cowtown. Don't get me wrong, we have some good fish shops, but it still bugs me to no end that a couple of them don't post their livestock prices and when you ask the price they seem to pull a number out of their butt.

simply put, I think our expectations from products and businesses is too much. We made a special order as well and came down from kamloops, not all fish were there... life sucks but I understand that everytime someone puts a fish on hold (probably half flake out) that they don't announce over the P.A. system, send out mass text messages to all their emploeyees (because there is a shift change I'm sure).
for how busy they are, how many people they have - I think we need to look at how well they actually do most of the time. I can also understand if you've had consecutive bad experiences.... sometimes thats just how the dice roll! |

I'm very pleased to say Jeff did call me today. Even before the store actually opened. We talked about what had happened and how things can change for the better in the future for situations like this. (Someone waiting such a long time for something rare)
And yes everyone was right. Jeff did make it right. I still don't have the fish because it was gone. But at least he and I came to a conclusion about this matter. I felt bad for posting this for everyone to see but at the time I was really ticked off. To be able to see the fish. the one I waited for 6 months and not to be able to take him/her home was a bad feeling. Anyways thank you Jeff. Looking forward talking with you in person next time I come in. |
You will never know if you would have received the same treatment had you not made a public complaint.
Chances are, you would have as most people report excellent service from J&L. Good on you for reposting here to ensure everyone knows that JL came through at the end of the day. we all know mistakes happen and I think that what all of us really expect is for companies to accept accountability for their mistakes and at least offer to do what is in their power to make it right. |

J&L started with this kind of service with John, and Jeff has carried the legacy well. Never had an issue that wasn't resolved above expectations. Without publicly airing it.
