Whee!

I just noticed my last post was 3499. That means THIS one is 3500!

:bday: :silly:

...
Um .. OK I guess that's enough of that shameless post padding. :splat:

Aquattro 09-30-2004 04:04 PM

You still have a 3 in front of your post count? tsk, tsk.....

Bob I 09-30-2004 04:07 PM

Congratulations :onfire: :multi: :rainbowa: . I guess you are impossible to catch.

Delphinus 09-30-2004 04:24 PM

I had more posts than either Brad or Steve at one point! THOSE days are long in the past, though.

I think you're catching up to me Bob ...

Tony - don't worry about Steve or Brad here. What really matters is the quality of posts not the quantity

Bob I 09-30-2004 05:00 PM

Bob suspects (knows) you're talking about him too... And his use of socially awkward smileys doesn't help.

Quinn 09-30-2004 05:55 PM

Catching up... I think I'm 2nd or 3rd for posts per day, although it's dropped in the past few months.

According to a very rough mental calculation, if everyone maintains their current rate, by the time I reach about 7000 posts I'll be in third place.

christyf5 09-30-2004 06:01 PM

Good grief Alan, you're right. More gratuity, less constructivity!

<pad, pad, pad!>

Quinn 09-30-2004 06:06 PM

On that note, I also have noticed that Bob uses  a lot.

"Sometimes I eat bananas  "

"Zoos for sale  "

"Get thee back from whence ye came  "

Does not whence mean "where from" Therefore making the "from" redundant.

Quinn 10-01-2004 01:58 AM

Bob, as usual, champion of proper English, we salute you. :splat:

Hooray for John Kerry. :usa

AJ_77 10-01-2004 04:58 AM

O crap, I missed the debate - how did it go?

Quinn 10-01-2004 05:52 AM

Most of the critics feel that Kerry kicked some serious butt. I only watched about half and while I agree, I'm really freaking biased. Anyways, Bush was as usual tripping over his words and using the same clichés over and over, while Kerry was extremely well prepared, and I felt presented a clear message, and if the American public doesn't understand his stance on Iraq now, they never will. I was listening to an American radio broadcast afterward and they said the pundits are predicting the polls to jump in Kerry's favour, although how long this last, or should we say, how long he can avoid the mud flinging from the Republican camp, is anyone's guess.

The thing that I find particularly funny - "which man will best protect America from another 9/11?" Uh, how about, neither/both? This is such an absurd question in my mind, and yet people keep repeating it. I realize that this is a serious issue for Americans and Westerners as a whole, but one man cannot save anyone from the security holes that allowed that attack to happen. Only pouring more money into the various services and organizations associated with "homeland security" (sounds so Evil Empire to me) will shore up the metaphorical walls. Kerry made some excellent points as well, including about how 95% of cargo shipments in and out of the USA are still not scanned in any form (I don't know where he got this but if it's true, wow), and I think that really speaks for Bush's agenda. Also Kerry brought up the rich-boy tax cut and Halliburton, which I hope hit home for some people.

EmilyB 10-01-2004 06:00 AM

I think 9-11 made an indelible imprint on most, I myself was on reefs.org that AM and someone alerted us to watch TV, at which point I was able to see the second plane hit live on camera.

If Bush had not reacted in some/any way, what then would the US opinion been of him then ?

I don't really give a hoot about politics so that's all I have to say.

Cap'n 10-01-2004 06:11 AM

But Bush didn't react to the threat, he used the attacks as an excuse to attack someone entirely different for his own gains. It was the perfect diversion for his administration to assume a scary amount of control and camel-loads of money.

In Rumsfeld's own words, all they needed was "another Pearl Harbour".

Without a very effecient (and expensive) propaganda machine the American public would realize just how much they have been taken advantage of by that stupid monkey and his playmates!

AJ_77 10-01-2004 02:39 PM

No sense holding back at 12:11 in the morning, is there Tim?
