Blue barrels with removable tops GVRD - group buy ?

I'm setting up a pickup time with the Craigslist guy in Coquitlam who sells these barrels for $20 ea. He has a price break for multis, but that's not the reason for my post.
I'm doing this just to help out anyone not wanting to drive out there.
I bought one a few years back and want another.
Anyone else interested ? I'm going anyway and can fit many in the back of my full-size truck.
Pickup would be @ my house in Bby near BCIT.

No extra charge to you unless you want me to deliver it

So maybe I should have wrote 'pickup time' instead of date ?
Done

Better ?

gregzz4 05-30-2015 03:37 AM

If you're commited to a barrel (or more than 1), send me a PM with your #, but also please post here that you're in with the # of units you want.
It'll be easier for me to keep track of how many in this post rather than a bunch of PMs.
I'm thinking I'll run this post for a week or so to catch everyone's attention.
And if we get enough buyers we'll get a small price break.

Thanks all.

bsung413 05-30-2015 03:52 AM

I am in for 1!

Please keep me update

Thanks~

I want one, but I live right in Coq...

If I can just pick up there at the same time as you and it helps get a better price, I'm in.

gregzz4 05-30-2015 06:40 PM

Pm me your # goby

I can fit 3 more in my truck as goby will pick his up from the seller.
I think I can only fit 6 as I have a crossover toolbox.

gregzz4 05-30-2015 10:46 PM

At the rate you guys are replying I may move up the pickup date to before next weekend.
I spoke with the seller today and he needs to pick up more on Tuesday. And with any luck he'll be home early sometime between then and Friday.

I'll be able to stack them up in my recroom until they are picked up/delivered so don't worry about picking yours up immediately.

I doubt I'll get in on this at this time, but I'm sure I can use these in my next system.

Are you guys using these for top off storage & salt water mixing?
How are you plumbing these drums?

Free bump!

gregzz4 05-31-2015 06:30 AM

For $15/ea you might want to grab one now. A 44g brute is something like $70+tax
These are just over 50USg
I'm not making (or saving much) money by posting these, so your choice.
There are already enough buyers to save me $10 on my 2 units, and the others $5 per drum, so anyone else getting in has no bearing on our pricing.
As stated in my original post, I'm only doing this to help out anyone wanting to save the drive to Coquitlam Center from our area.

I use one for storing RO water in my RO room, will use a second for storing RO water in my sump room, and a third will be for when I want to do a large WC.

I installed Uniseals in my original one. It's on a counter top so I can drain it easily. The plan is to do the same in my sump room so I can fill my ATO and NSW tanks without any fuss, just a hose. And all I will have to do is use a pump and 65' hose to re-fill the sump room drum from the RO room drum.

This is my RO unit drum. I've since removed the lock ring and use the white lid as a dust cover/cut down on evaporation.

I will take 1 and I live in Coquitlam.

Hiya Tomjay

Please PM me your #
You will be last on the list

Greg

gregzz4 06-02-2015 01:42 AM

So if Tomjay is in, looks like we're getting 8 as J&L John is also taking one.

I'll try to barter us a better price, but even @ $15 ea they're dirt cheap.

gregzz4 06-02-2015 01:51 AM

Picking them up tomorrow night.
I'll text you guys in case you miss this.

NU-2reef 06-02-2015 03:45 PM

bsung413 06-04-2015 06:24 AM

Picked up my barrel today!! Awesome and funny guy!!

Definitely worth a visit to see his tank!

Thank you again for the barrel, beers, and STICKERS lol

gobytron 06-04-2015 03:15 PM

I showed up with a $20 and said this muct be your lucky day because I didn;t bring change, so you get $20.

He said I anticipated that and broke out 5 bucks in change anyways.

Thats a good dude.

Yup, Dan is a nice guy in person. Doesn't come across so much on the phone.
Glad you and TJay were able to get in on the extra savings. And thanks for picking up when you said you would. Woulda made me feel awkward if you guys didn't show.

gobytron 06-05-2015 05:05 PM

to be fair, I was really late (some joker ran into my security gate and popped his tire, blocking the exit to my yard until we could change it).

I called him and he was very cool about it.

thanks for organizing anyways.

Smoking deal at 15 per, they really are nice and clean and in excellent shape.

I've always bought these at the hydro supply store in the past and they are more expensive and they often can't tell you what what originally stored or shipped in them.

gregzz4 06-11-2015 04:18 AM

So how's everyone liking their new barrels? All good? Any issues washing them out?
I've washed out my new ones but can't set them up yet as I need to shuffle some office furniture.

NU-2reef 06-11-2015 05:05 PM

No major issues here Greg. The barrels needed a good cleaning but nothing over the top. One of my barrels had a 4 inch layer of caramel at the bottom. Didn't mind cleaning it out as it smelled pretty darn good! Tempting almost:)
I'm happy with mine and at that price how could I complain.
Thanks again for making it easy.
