30 gal cube frag tank
I finally got around to tearing down my old planted tank and decide to try and build a stand/cabinet for it. Its a 32 gallon ADA cube Garden 60x45x45 cm. One on the right..
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psfziavcst.jpg I built a 2x4 frame, then put pine sheeting to cover it up. Threw on some mouldings and ta daa, a new tank stand. I put the sump on a shelf as i want to connect this system to my main system later and i needed it high enough to drain onto my other sump. It is a bit tight but everything fits. http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psbdegenlk.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8dr7kpea.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psc73skkm3.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pswd5tvxnd.jpg I went with rubble and smaller live rock as i want pieces to glue frags too..and as much as i love the look of sand im still taking it out of my other tank, slow slow process... http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7vcnwl15.jpg time to cycle http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pshoqvtahs.jpg |
Nice tank.Good job on the stand, looks like you know what your doing.
|
Sweet stand man
|
Thanks, still have to get some doors on.. I'm happy with the way it turned out. It's not perfect and I learnt a bunch, but for a first go at cabinet making, I'm happy.

fragged some neon kenya tree that was being covered by a carpet anenome and dying slowly, just cut all the branches off and dropped them on to the loose live rock and wait for them to attach.
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psgy7jsojg.jpg also added a few quiet fish, a multi banded pipefish and a yellow clown goby: http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psymawlhgt.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pssosdwglp.jpg |
Also fragged some mushrooms. Cut, quarteredand dropped on live rock rubble:

changed it up.. added this sweet neon green clove polyp i think..
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psw0ehj4n3.jpg just put it in, still opening up. http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psj1xsafz3.jpg |
new tankmates, a long black spine urchin and some blue striped pipefish
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pspcfums4h.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psb0btnfks.jpg |
well a seahorse made its way into the little pipefish fam, seems happy, eats mysis and cyclopeeze.
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psl7widka7.jpg |
wait, isn't this a frag tank ?
|
Oh yeah frags... Funny you mention it, put in some racks tonight and some tester frags, some rainbow montipora frags and a few acros that have been doing well. we will see if it is ready..
|
so i think i will fill the bottom of the frag/seahorse tank with gorgonians, some of the frags (montipora and birdsnest) were doing well, but any acro wouldnt open up.. probably because this clown goby kept nipping at the polyps like it was a game of whack a mole..
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psw4mi2sqr.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psacktmxuz.jpg jerk goby, http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psp3u7hmyy.jpg Well I think will wait on adding my other sps frags to this tank. here they are waiting the 180.. http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psmkkaykyl.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psl2svjiti.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psznjtzyvs.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pscrgw3mh1.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psprarrhrh.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psxnuciutb.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psycynfmgz.jpg |
I see you have a new banded pipe , is the red/yellow still doing good ?
I guess the black and white banded pipes get bacterial infections fairly easy compared to the rest , just a heads up if you are not qt'ing the pipes. How are your blue stripes doing > Are they eating frozen ? Also after a while my clown gobie started attacking my pipefish so keep an eye on that to  |

oh you have 3 blue strip pipes? If you have 2 males they will end up fighting , 2 females and 1 male is suppose to be ok .
What color marking does the dragonface have on its belly ? I have been looking for a male for my female for a while now . If the mark on the belly is yellow its a female , if its blue it will have a tiny little pouch and will be male. Good luck with the pipes and the seahorse coolest fish in the hobby Imo |

Man UR scallop is awesome lol. Reminds me of the Venus fly trap from super Mario. How come mine doesn't open that wide lol
|
I just got him so im not sure that he will stay that way, his blue "electric" lip is sweet tho
|
|
any updates ? How are all your Pipes doing ?
|
oh man what to say about this tank... the blue stripes are good and well, dragon face missing, seahorse eaten by donut coral, it as become a hodge podge of dangerous corals and a foot long tube anenome that was eating chromis like candies. Kind of a lost graveyard tank im thinking... skeletons and poisonous/spiny urchins and other oddities.
http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psutjhibyl.jpg he got away this time, not the next when i wasnt home.. http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psvzq4muop.jpg |
Nice overhaul , looks really good !
|

2nd overhaul, the sps are doing much better now in this tank.. New light setup 6 x 24w t5ho.

got some new treasures! a few staghorn hermits, a new rock flower nem and a venus anenome shrimp.. i had a bunch of rubble in my sump so I plopped him right on there.. the shrimp made his way to a alveopora for a bit, then to the nem. The rock flower is blue to purple hueish center with gren tentacles..
blue digi doing well.. http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8e2kwcgb.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pst7nvclvr.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psmtvqlmlp.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pshjcqtzza.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psyrl6mzte.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psywaiy934.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9cjxzoa4.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psoalfd0nf.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psivxkcaer.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pskxw6i6bs.jpg http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psf1l1dlky.jpg |
so... the anenome shrimp has vanished into some other coral overnight, probably see him next year... the rock flower anenome must be pretty happy, after just one night, it would seem it has been trying to spawn. Lots of milky stuffs for about the last 10 mins...

What are you doing for the staghorn hermit? Are you going to target feed it?
My son and I bought one of those silly staghorn buggars too. I am target feeding the shell frozen cyclopeeze. My sandbed is pretty healthy and full of life but I suspect it will be pretty tricky to keep the shell alive. Your thoughts? |
