Got Radiums?

Talk about being behind the trend curve. Just put up 2-400W 20K Radiums over my 112gal. They were on sale.
I see why people like these - seeing colours I never knew I had.

For starters (sorry SPS freaks):

Think I'm gonna like these. Better late than never!

Are those the Jack to Me to Walter to You bulbs?

You should have seen them when I first got them....heheh

Cool shots!

Great photos!!
How long have you had those bulbs on for?

AJ_77 09-16-2004 01:24 PM

Had them on 2 days now. (hour on, hour off).

Nice  , don't I need those green zoos

AJ_77 09-16-2004 05:05 PM

Bob, I didn't even capture that green properly. It looks surreal...

They will be spreading soon - get a trade ready maybe.

Looks nice. How are those candycanes doing? The one pictured, is that a piece of them or is it a piece of the others you already had?

AJ_77 09-16-2004 05:20 PM

The candycanes are good, Tony - and even better now that I've replicated something of their former home, or closer to. The greeeeen one in the photo is an electric-lime branching piece, either from Kari or ????? (can't remember - woops).

Yours are nice, but still are the blue-green. I also have a blue-blue one from Evan - nice.

the only problem with radiums is they make everything else in the tank blue as well so you have real nice corals that glow when the lights are on but you also have blue sand, blue rock...... I tried them but could only stand looking at the misrepersented colors for about 1 month. I am sure you know already how fun it is to get picturs to look proper when they are on

Actually I was expecting more of a "blue lagoon" kind of look, but am still surprised how crisp these are. And it took me a few blue photos, but if I set the white balance on my camera to Auto it handles it OK.

And those shimmer lines seem to confuse it too... weird. It can't adjust that fast?

Are you running the son agro ballast's Alan?

If so that is probably the reason for the whiter color. I suspect

I'm currently running one off of a M59 ballast, and visually it looks just like Radiums running off the SA ballast. Maybe my eyes are cooked from staring at MH bulbs too long.
