Question - Moving Tank

Hello,

I am moving and I need to get my 450 gallon tank dismantled (including each pane of glass). I then want to get the tank reassembled at my new house. Does anyone know of a business in Edmonton that could do this for me?

Thanks!

I would guess it would be cheaper to get a new tank. The labour to cut it apart and prep the surfaces to be resealed would be more than new glass. As usual, the recommend is to call Concept and see what they can do for you.

I agree, a new tank would be more economical (and all around better considering you can design it to your new place)

I've cut apart a pair of 400s now and it's certainly no easy task. if the glass is in good shape and you've got the room to lay out each pane for cleaning it's not that bad. cutting it apart is the tougher chore in my opinion. a fine guitar string saved a lot of time my second time around. then it's just blades and acetone. the trouble is getting someone to come assemble it on site. certainly cheaper than buying a new tank if you're in calgary where concepts is and they're willing. not sure about edmonton tho.

There is a good chance he won't be able to get the tank out of his house without taking it apart...

Yeah the tank is from concept. I called Dave and they can definitely help me out, but paying the travel/hotel doesn't make sense... If someone locally could do it that would be great!!! The tank cost me a fortune and is fairly new, so scrapping it is not an option of me.

Have you asked Neil Wilson. (Edmonton's tank builder)

Can't find a valid number for Neil. I found an old address for his store, but it was no longer there.

Also Neil's email is glassdude2006@hotmail.com. Neil built my tank and did a fantastic job and was by far the cheapest quote I got as well. His business card mentions on site builds so he should be able to help you out.
