Hobbies??

So what is everyones hobbies besides being aquarists?
Mine is definatly fishing. I truthfully spend December, through to July on the tank and from July to December in the water fishing. Here is a pic of a 30lb Chinook salmon I caught a couple weeks ago.

I'll just list the major hobbies I have. I dabble in lots of pursuits that haven't reached full hobby status yet.

Woodworking (almost as expensive as reefkeeping)
Blacksmithing (though not so much as of late)
Motorcycling, 1994 BMW R1100RS (borderline obsession and also close competion for the bank breaker)
Reefkeeping (obviously)

AJ_77 09-08-2004 03:44 AM

Another hobby?? Two comments come to mind:

"She's a harsh mistress, reefkeeping! She don't take well to competition, you see... Arrhh! "

and:

"You guys don't have kids, do you?"

I find that my family (including 3 boys) pretty much takes up all my other time and money.

I'm a bit of a writer and... don't laugh, I do lots of karaoke.

Also bigtime Starcraft gamer and badminton player.

You ever meet those people who can't think of any activities that they'd call hobbies? I don't get that.

Delphinus 09-10-2004 04:02 PM

Participating in the Victoria-Maui race.
Occasional circumnavigations with frequent layovers in Bora-Bora.
Living in a fantasy world dreaming of the above, while watching my life pass me by in the meantime.

In all seriousness ...

sailing (Hobie16 and Fireball's in particular .. one day want to get into bigger boats but for now I seem to be funneling all my savings into "fish tank stuff").

cycling and mountain biking, but pretty basic stuff compared to what some people do (I have been told the term is "old school" ).

orchids... sigh ... I used to grow orchids, until I started having fish tanks and neglecting the poor plants. One day I hope to get back on track on that.

Hiking, backcountry camping, or just general car camping. All good.

Music.

Daydreaming.

Spending too much time on Canreef and RC when I'm supposed to be working. Oh, hi there Boss! Ok, I'm coming to the meeting now. <sigh>

Bora Bora is waiting ......
