What is this coral? I must have it
Hi all,
Was just looking up RR Diablo online and saw a Canreef thread on the topic. It had this picture on and I couldn't quite make sense of the thread as to what this coral was being called. If you can help me out it would be much appreciated.....I REALLY want a piece. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...b93d6db36a.jpg Ta, Dunc |
If you find those for $25, I'll take one too :)
|
Dunc,
I've got some :) However you might need to add another digit to that $25 ahaha |
It is called Red Convexa. I obtained my original piece, now a colony, from Darryl as well. Here is a recent WYSIWYG frag we just shipped out.

Oh, I have red convexa. It's currently upside down between a couple rocks. I should go save it :)

The photo posted in the first post is a Red Convexa. It was one of my frags I sold. There was a lot of people passing off the Red Convexa as the Diablo frag when it frist came out.

I do not. It is (well was) a fairly common coral in Ontario due to its fast growth and relative ease at keeping. I would try MJC corals, likely they will have it at the best price and it is guaranteed to be from Darryl V. |
I will have some insane acros being posted Monday night. A few are very similar.

looking forward to that, might sneak a few in with my Rock Flower order |
Since you posted a picture from my website I will chime in.
 In my experience the red convexa generally only gets the green while in a color "transition state" - it goes from brown to green to red and a mix of there of until it finishes coloring up to rusty red. I find it only keeps the green accents under low light but when kept in insufficient lighting it grows much slower. In the picture below that was taken this weekend from inside my display tank you can see part of a convexa colony in the left hand back ground. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ps1f6ef7ce.jpg |
Had this piece in my tank for abit over a year now.
Something similar? (sorry cell phone photo) http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...psxveexl8u.jpg |
