GHL Doser 2 APP's and more
With the shipment of over 80 dosers now across North America in the first week, please find below the required software and also first release Beta APP for Android.
Software https://aquariumcomputer.com/en-GB/ghldownloads Please select from the drop down list the Doser 2 and in the other dialogue box your operating system. Android APP (Beta) https://aquariumcomputer.com/en-GB/g...ads?fileID=216 The Android APP is Beta we ask you to use it as test feedback for GHL please post your thoughts and findings ONLY here - http://forum.aquariumcomputer.com/sh...9272#post59272 Due to GHL being a global company they cannot monitor all forums for all feedback so if you wish to participate in the development of the APPs if you could kindly only post on the link above in regards to suggestions for improvement. Quick note about the Iphone - We are aware there are more users for Iphone than Android, however due to the registration process of an Iphone APP it is far more easier to iron out the wrinkles through Android than to keep resubmitting to Apple. The Iphone APP therefore will take longer and we appreciate your patience. Many thanks again for trusting the worlds most renowned doser manufacturer with your dosing needs and look forward to all the users photos and comments. |
There seems to be a bug in the link I sent above, not an APP bug but points to a developer page.
Link to Android APP is http://downloads.aquariumcomputer.co..._V100_BETA.apk updates can be found on the GHL website @ www.aquariumcomputer.com |
If you are having trouble setting up and connecting your GHL Doser 2 to your Android device using their app. this post might help you.
down load the App on your Adroid device here. http://downloads.aquariumcomputer.co..._V100_BETA.apk Once downloaded tap the top right corner and select "Add new connection" Once selected beside "Name" type "GHL-DOSER2" and beside "Host" type "10.10.100.254" then tap "Yes" After that you will see a GHL-DOSER2 icon. "There are no technical knowledge required..." Actual quote from GHL's german support forum.
This is what I could translate trying to help. As you can see, no technical knowledge required... :) There are no technical knowledge required , however , terms such as static IP address, default gateway, etc. to be known To change the wireless settings , the current GHL Control Center is required . Embed GHL Doser 2 Wi-Fi into their own network Connect . Via USB to the GHL Doser 2 and select the System menu option Then select Wi-Fi from the Mode. Then select the client mode to allow the GHL Doser 2 can connect to the local network. Now the GHL Doser 2 has a fixed IP address should be assigned to select the item and enter the following settings to use the IP address ( Static IP provider: http : //www.drwindows.de/windows-anle ... -netzwerk.html ) , subnet mask, and default gateway. ( Default gateway / subnet mask to find out : http://www.windowspower.de/router-he...8-1_15333.html ) (Alternatively, you can automatically obtain the address, you must then determine what address from the access point to the GHL Doser was awarded 2 ). Next, enter the SSID of your access point (router). (SSID find out: http://praxistipps.chip.de/eigene-ss...so-gehts_28856 ) Then select the encryption and the encryption type , you will find it as the SSID in the user interface of your access point (On the Fritz box is AES = CCMP) . Finally , enter the wireless key , these can be found mostly on the back or in the user interface of the access point . After you have set all the GHL Doser 2 needs a few minutes to connect to the network. If it does not work right away, Start the GHL Doser 2 new (disconnect from current). To be able to connect to the smartphone app , enter the previously set IP address in the app. Embed GHL Doser 2 via LAN to own network Embed GHL Doser 2 via LAN to own network Click on the image for larger view Name: Doser_LAN.png Hits : 6 Size: 77.8 KB ID : 6753 Connect . Hi,
Thanks for all the info. GHL inform me that they are working on plug and play wifi connection where the software will auto search the wifi connection settings, this will make set up really easy. Unfortunately this could not be completed by launch so anyone with difficulties are getting fantastic support including GHL remote logging onto clients systems and setting them up remotely! Once the software settles down in terms of rapid updates I will be doing a tutorial video to help everyone who may need that bit extra pictorial support. One thing is for sure, GHL have nailed the dosing market yet again with the Doser-2 we simply cant keep them in stock and in the first week of release over 100 were sold across North America and more pre orders coming in. I really am impressed with what they have done and the future of the product with the built in PAB port gives some tempting theories as to its future too ;) I thank all the early adopters for their support and look forward to seeing the product grow for you in terms of functionality and extras ;) |
Here is a link to the manual should anyone need it. Every unit comes with a hard copy biit for the latest updated versions always download the new one from www.aquariumcomputer.com
http://downloads.aquariumcomputer.co...php?fileID=218 Thanks so much Scythanith your info is very helpful. I really appreciate the understanding from our early adopters and I know GHL are working hard as I said above for auto wifi connect and auto static IP assigning. In the meantime we are making sure anyone that has a set up question gets up and running within 24 hours. The benefits are huge with this doser the reviews keep coming in so positive. Very proud to be part of this new GHL innovation. |
I have no issues with the actual Doser 2 unit. It seems like a sturdy piece of equipment and I look forward to getting it purring with the full set of software GHL has been showing off :)
That link you posted for the manual is nothing but symbols and characters in random order... looks like programmer language or something. |
The link is a direct download, I have just clicked on it and this is it sitting on my task bar after clicking on the link (sorry bit small but can clearly see the download)
http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...ps0effdc1d.jpg Not sure why its displaying text for you, its not a text link but a download link |
Here is the direct link to the download page also, just select doser 2 from the drop down menu.
https://aquariumcomputer.com/en-GB/ghldownloads |
So I downloaded both the manual and programmers guide and I can say with 100% certainty that I din NOT receive either of those documents with my Doser 2. Things would have been much simpler if I had. All I had in my box was an operating instruction page and quick start guide which did not have anywhere near the depth of information the downloadable manual does.
Anyone that buys GHL products should go to the site right off the hop and download whatever manuals are on the site and read those first. Forget about what comes in the box. |
Sorry you did not get it, cant think why, I know we have not had a single case elsewhere of the missing manual, seems to be a one off thankfully.
But that being said yes your advise is what we do recommend, just with any product you buy in technology these days that is software related, the most recent manual will always be found on the website. Great sharing advise thanks ;) |
New software and firmware!
With the current version the LAN/ W-LAN settings of the GHL Doser 2 were improved and an assistant for static IP addresses and a wireless search were added. It is now possible to search for wireless networks, the appropriate settings are entered automatically. With the assistent for static IP address it is now easier to change the static IP address of the GHL Doser 2. Following changes since Version 1.0.5.9 have been made: Wireless network search added Assitant for static IP address added GHL Doser 2 firmware version 1.02 added Several optimizations To use the new functions the GHL Doser 2 needs a firmware update to version 1.02, the firmware is included with the GHL Control Center. You can download the new version with the following link: https://aquariumcomputer.com/en-GB/g...ads?fileID=219 |
So say my doser 2 firmware update failed mid-update and now the light on top just fades in and out in yellow. How do I do the emergency flash like on the profilux and mitras?
|
Hi
its only going to fail if the usb connection failed or the sequence was not followed in the onscreen instructions. In this case you would need to contact GHL in Germany for the recovery process by emailing info@ghl-kl.de So lets hope none of the above happens to you. EDIT! Oops ok I see it has from the posts on the other forums, GHL will come to your rescue, as its been 45 mins or was just reboot it, nothing more you can do, I think it has a self recovery on the non volatile ram. Not much more I can do from this thread though, lets wait for GHL on email or the other forum |
Yep that's what happened. A connection error in a red box popped up and then told me to pull the power to the doser 2. The plug it back in and it just hung there in the fw update process. I emailed GHL.

we got lots of questions about MyGHL and I would like to share some information here - it happened a lot in the last weeks!
Just to remind you: MyGHL is a cloudbased service for controlling and setting up certain GHL devices. The user creates an account on the MyGHL website, registers his devices and is able to access the devices from every location in the world with internet-access via webbrowser. The first device which can be used with MyGHL will be the GHL Doser 2, ProfiLux 3 and Mitras will follow after a short while. Questions and answers: Q: When can I use MyGHL with my GHL Doser 2? A: We are in the final stage of testing, I assume that this will be the case beginning of 2015. Q: Which other devices will be supported? A: ProfiLux 3 and Mitras LX Q: When will MyGHL be available for them? A: Unfortunately I don't have an exact date yet, our goal is February 2015 Q: Why can't you be faster? A: We are very well aware that many customers are looking forward to MyGHL and are anxious for it. However, safety and quality of the software have first priority at GHL, we are not going to release something with potential risks. Especially cloudbased services can be critical, so we ask you for your understanding that we have to work very carefully. Nobody wants his tank as a target for hackers. Q: Do I have to update the firmware? A: Yes, to be able to use the MyGHL services a modified firmware is necessary. |
Hey Michael,
You have said that we need version 1.02 to go on to myGHL, but when I go to the GHL website all I can see is 1.01. See attached screenshot. Any ideas where I can find 1.02? http://www.lithicimages.com/photos/i...-ZHqqsgj-L.png |
Its under software the firmware is embedded into it, so delete the old software and load the new, the new version is 1.06
|
So why would they still have a FW download section? That's confusing.
|
I dont set the rules I just dish them out
|
Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to mention that to the GHL brass?
