Feeding

Just a question to everybody

I was wondering what everyone feeds there corals, clams and fish. I'm Trying to figure out a good routine for my tank

dyereefer 08-21-2004 04:17 PM

I feed my fish mysis.
I put rotifers in once a week.

marine one/two flakes + a piece of nori to graze.
mysis a few times a week, and a few chopped up scallops for the crabs and shrimp.

My main tank, which is a 204g, I feed a full sheet of nori every 2 days (suspended on a piece of PCV with elastic bands), about 2 tablespoons of mysis twice a week, and about 2 tablespoons of frozen krill once a month.
In the 204g, I have:
1 BTA
2 cleaner shrimp
2 blue tangs
1 kole tang
5 chromis
1 copperband butterfly
1 scarlet hawkfish
1 bangaii cardinal
lots of assorted corals - sps, lps, mushrooms, softies

I use the same feeding routing for my 180g sump, in which I have:
2 foxface rabbitfish
1 humu humu trigger
1 emperor angelfish
1 bangaii cardinal
1 BTA
1 blue headed hawaiian wrasse

On an infrequent basis, I'll feed clam, squid, silversides, OSI spirulina flake, tiger prawns.

In my 155, I have a yellow tang, a white cheek tang, 2 green chromis and a mandarin. I feed a pinch of pellets once a day. I feed a teaspoon of mysis no more than once a week. I add a half sheet of nori at least twice a week, sometimes three times a week. If I think about it, I feed frozen cyclop-eeze once a week. I don't think about it a lot.

I feed my fish twice a day with brine shrimp in the morning and spirulina flake in the afternoon. I also give the tank a weekly shot of bio life plankton. If I had larger fish, I would also feed mysis shrimp instead of brine as mysis is much more nutricious, but all my fish are of small sizes so I have to stick to a smaller food.

Feeding varies from tank to tank depending on all creatures and there sizes and natural eating habbits.

I feed my yellow tang, foxface, 4 chromis, a couple shrimp and a clown a pinch of pellits every other day (clown gets it every day) sheets of nori are a once a week treet usaly and once and a while I feed the LPS and bubble tip mysis or frozen plankton.

230g - Yellow tang, moorish idol, two butterflys, three anthias, three dragonets, one goby, 8 shrimp, five clams, fuzzy sticks, etc etc etc.....

Nori once daily. OSI or similar flake 1-2 times daily. Frozen mysis or homemade food, once daily, pellet food for fish and critters once daily.

And I actually made it six weeks without a skimmer and no significant algae growth !!!

108 gallon has 4" blonde Naso Tang, 3" Copperbanded Butterflyfish, Lemonpeel Angelfish, pair of Pink Skunk Clownfish, Yellow-tail Damsel, small Psychedelic Mandarin.

Feed pinch of spirulina-based flake 1-2 times daily, PE mysis once a day (most days), small wrap of nori is available almost all the time. Supplement with a bit of mixed seafood or enriched brine shrimp couple times a week.

Cyclop-eeze. Baby brine when I'm in the mood to hatch them. Mysis goes to the brain.

AJ_77 08-23-2004 04:43 PM

Whatever they catch from the fishes' food.

I have been tagging along this thread. Since i have no fish feeding is a bit odd.

I do mysis and brine when the mood hits me. I also do DT's 3 times a week. I think i feed more for my sake than the tanks. The crabs like the brine. my zoo's and polyips will grab some from time to time as well. Most likely i could go a long wile without feeding anything. The pods are the biggest eaters by far tho. When i feed they come ou8t in packs. The larger ones, 1/4 inch or more, will grab a brine and drag it off to eat. Its cool watching 10-15 pods attack a mysis and have a play tug-o-war wile eating. They seem to come from every hole and under very coral.
