Cherries picking(Kelowna)

Planning to go cherries picking in Kelowna. Is anyone knows where is the best to pick cherries?

Thank you.

Check with Harry aka H2O2. He is in Winfield.

we go to a place on Teasedale road. Not sure if they still do u-pick. It's Kempf farms at 1409 Teasedale. Just past them (the next orchard) is an older couple. One of my staff goes there and they are a little cheaper.

There are quite a few around although not all do u-pick anymore.

Are they open for public like me?

yes, the old couple does u-pick for sure. One of my staff is going there this weekend. Not sure about the other one.

Thanks. It calls Kempf farms at 1409 Teasedale?

patman 07-07-2014 08:42 PM

The one I go to is called Kempf Farms. I don't know if they do u-pick. They are at 1409 Teasedale. The old couple is at the farm just next to them (probably like 1425 or something). The old couple is cheaper and definitely will do u-pick.

Ok. If I can find them I will support the older couples.

My backyard, a week ago. Little tree is empty now, but gave me just over 5lbs. This year I used a 'Kootenay Bag' to keep the bugs off, no pesticides.

You shouldn't have to search too hard for cherries in the Okanagan Valley!

Thanks Patman. This is where I went Arndt Orchards 1555b Teasdale Road.

Can you please let me know how the experience was and how much they charged for the bucket? I will be going to Kelowna on the coming long weekend for cherry picking.

Time I was there were two type. Vans are $2.50/lb and Stardusts are $3.50/lb. You need to check which type of cherries at that time period. I spent $130.00 total.

August long weekend you are at the end of cherry season. Only some really late varieties left. Probably can find something but will be harder. Peaches and apricots starting now.
