Diving Expieriences

So i will be in Grand Cayman for the next couple weeks. I dive almost every day with a DSLR camera. I will get tonnes of photos for you guys to look at, incase you guys have never dived before. I strongly suggest you try diving at least once. Im staying with my uncle who has lived there for 7 years so i go every year.

Have you guys ever had any cool diving experiences?
Ill start it off with one of my favs. Diving in Little Cayman, which is a sister island of grand cayman, there are 2 tame 3 foot long nassau groupers which you can pet and cuddle with and they won't leave your side. So for the entire time it feels like you have fish guiding you around the reef.

Oh and another cool one is watching the fish line up like at the car wash for the cleaning station.( seen a fish line over 10 ft long before hehe)

Anyways share you diving experiences and ill be sure to post my photos.

Here are a few photos from previous years

I went diving in the vast epics of my 60 gallon bathtub before... loooool

Super nice pictures though. Hopefully I will get some diving trips in the next year or so! Do you use an underwater housing?

hillegom 03-20-2014 05:40 AM

I would love to go there and dive!

Treebeard 03-20-2014 04:58 PM

Nice pictures! Where did you dive with the whale shark? I did a whale shark snorkel trip from Isla Mujeres but diving with them is illegal.

It was in grand Cayman at the Kittiwake wreck we weren't specifically diving with them it just showed up.

Patwa 03-20-2014 06:26 PM

no sorry i don't it was quite a few years ago and i don't really remember it.

Scuba Diver Gal 03-21-2014 03:08 AM

My favorite is the eagle rays. Also, no more spearing lion fish here now. Reef shark was chasing a diver in east end last week to get their lion fish...so now no more lion fish culling while diving with dive companies.

Great pix!!! Thanks for sharing.

FishingGoalie 03-21-2014 03:55 AM

Thanks maybe i will tka e my camera on one of the many night dives we do. Never don't that before. I will also be recording what they call the West Bay Express it where we take underwater scooters and go around the west side of island which is around 5 miles long one dive. I really hope this video turns out because it will be really cool. It will be taken with my GoPro

I did my first open water dives a couple years ago in Kona. On the third of the four dive for my certification we were at a site called The Arches. We had gone from the boat out to the rock arches and were just looking around before heading back towards the boat when two huge manta rays passed directly above us heading towards our boat. Naturally we followed in behind them all the way back, about ten minutes swimming along behind them.

took up diving years ago (learned to dive in Australia on the GBR) photo skills weren't as good as they are now.

Big dreams of seeing a whale shark one day though!

Scuba Diver Gal 03-22-2014 03:40 AM

That photo of the island looks like Cook Islands. Those are great pictures, especially the Manta Rays!

My whole dive today was with a shark...didn't leave our sides. He was following along in hopes of being fed some lion fish...So awesome!

Snappy 03-22-2014 05:45 AM

Incredible shots, I really need to get a strobe for my camera. I have to get over to Asia and do some diving.

The strobe makes such a huge difference.

So we went diving today i only used my go pro so no still shots we dived Lost treasure and Oro Verde which is a wreck. On tuesday i will have more photos has anyone eve take photos of fish on a night dive with the strobe worried it may blast them out of the water when it flashes.

Forgot to mention that we had a nurse shark on the first dive and we drove 10 minutes to a new dive site and 15 minutes in the same shark showed up.

I'm trying to get out diving at least once a year now. Extremely jealous of the whale shark haha. everywhere I go I have high hopes on seeing one and most of my dive destinations are known for whale shark spotting's. Maybe next year

FishingGoalie 03-31-2014 09:54 PM

Been taking lots of photos lately. Diving this trip has been really good so lots of photos.

My camera settings were pretty screwed up so all of my shots were super dark. I had to do lots of editing to get them somewhat the right colour so thats why they don't look as good as my original ones :(
