Frag ID's
 

A couple IDs!

Picked up all 3 at the LFS. The guy thought #1 and #2 were montis, and the third was a favia (I know #1 isn't a monti cap, and #2 I suspect is some sort of plate.)

Any ideas on what they really are?

pretty sure 1 is a lephastrea, blue eyed girl to be exact:)

2 is a chalice

both are bleached and need some tlc

they would need lower light and look like they have a long road of healing to do.

the third is a favia.

Thanks guys! Any hints on how to get these guys to colour back up?

put them in lower light and they may come back , there is a point when bleaching is to much to recover from.

both are lower light corals but can tolerate high light if acclimated slowly.

of course like anything water quality has to be good and consistent or it just slows down the process.

What type of lighting do you have? They are definitely bleached so keep them at the bottom of the tank. Probably best in a shaded area or at the far sides of the tank to get less light. It will just take a lot of time to get the colours back.

Is there anything extra special I can feed them to help them along and such?

I have T5 50/50 compact fluorescent lights. The stock lights that come with the RSM 130.

I moved them both to the bottom under a rock ledge, they still get light but its pretty well shaded.

#2 looks like a plate to me..does it have a mouth in the center?

It looks like it might (it's raised in the middle like a plate)

I also think #2 is a plate coral

#1 is Leptoseris, not Leptastrea.

#2 is probably a baby Fungia, but need to grow a bit for positive ID. A pic of the bottom would help.

#3 is certainly a Faviid.

Well, at least whatever #2 is, it appears to be alive still. It looks like its flesh is expanding (it's still on the sand), when food/water from the baster goes over it it contracts, and has little tiny spikey looking things on the topside (tentacles?). Yay!

#1 doesn't appear to have much of a change yet. I haven't seen the mouths move. I saw a suggestion on another forum for someone else inquiring about bleached corals. They suggested putting a small piece of Mysis or brine on each mouth and turning off all flow for 20 minutes for a couple nights in the hope it eats it.

I've also been dosing some vitamins and such.

Ok, I'm convinced it is indeed a Fungia then.

Leptoseris are technically SPS corals, but you treat them more like an LPS (medium flow, medium light). Their polyps are too small to eat Mysis or adult Brine Shrimp, but you could try spot feeding with baby Brine Shrimp or Cyclopeeze.

#2 is definitely a plate. I just watched it devour a brine shrimp whole from the little suspected mouth up top. Glad to see this one has hope! As for the other one, I guess I just have to wait to see if it colours up??

The Leptoseris? They don't have much flesh - it doesn't look that bad to me. It might not color up - many are just a tan color. It might just get a bit darker. Hard to say.

update on frags:

the plate appears to be growing, and has two mouths that I have observed eating brine and Mysis. The Mysis is still a bit too big for it, but it tries its best. It looks like it is getting some colour, and its tentacles are really easy to see now.

The other frag has picked up a more tan colour, though I have noticed in the past couple days that it is getting those white bumps on it. Any suggestions as to what they are? I had moved it down at one point as the frag kept falling off, and recently moved it back to the original mid-tank point (compact T5 lights). I can't tell if it is new growth or some sort of deadness.
