Xbox one or PS4

I am thinking of treating my sons and I with one of the newer games systems for Xmas however do not know which one is better. I know that both can play Blu-ray Discs and the graphics on both systems are very good. We enjoy watching 3D movies however I hear that neither supports 3D at this time. Which system would you go for and why?

Thanks

Wayne

I got a PS4 because it's not Microsoft :) Seriously though, they're both about the same, the camera technology they have in the new PS4 is almost the same as Kinect and it works really well for Just Dance anyhow. My son really loves Lego Marvel and Need for Speed on the PS4

Tn23 12-18-2013 05:08 AM

PS4! , however I hate how its not backwards compatible with all the old games... Great way to make money eh?

Coral Hoarder 12-18-2013 05:10 AM

Any one heard of all the bugs in the ps4s

Xbox1 for sure

I am leaning towards the ps4 but my sons love their 360 bc of halo and few other titles that are not available thru the play station. Yeah, surprise they are not backwards compatible and I hear that any online games purchased on the old system are not transferable.

I wasn't aware... Which games have bugs with the xbox1?

Coral Hoarder 12-18-2013 05:15 AM

Some of the ps4s that came out have defects

Coral Hoarder 12-18-2013 05:20 AM

Yep hold off the guy who runs the store near fantisyaquticks

Are these new systems still based on disc technology & hard drives, i.e. games are purchased on spinning media? I'd hope that by now the move is on back to solid state game modules like some of the original games way back when. Blue ray? Now that's another technology with a short life span considering the amount of data that can now be packed on to an SD card the size of a postage stamp.

nickguay 12-18-2013 02:08 PM

For this generation's PS4, everything is 100% digital download if you want it to be. I've gone 100% digital for this generation, no more discs for me

gqlmao 12-18-2013 02:20 PM

I usually wait till the second generation to go come before buying to avoid any bugs or major hardware issues. From what I've seen on the reviews the PS4 tops the Xbox interms of gaming, hardware specs and performancing. People were saying the Xbox was a better overall entertainment system, interface, netflix, etc. Is the ps4 available to buy in stores now?

sirruckus 12-18-2013 02:31 PM

got a PS4 - and the introduction of these new systems was pretty un-eccessary. If you consider the potential of how satisfied people were with XBox 360 and PS3 and how may games were available - it would have been better to keep marketing it for a couple more years.

the step up in graphics from PS3 doesn't feel as pronouced as say ps2 vs ps3

the PS4 is lightning fast compared to the PS3

Controller doesn't last nearly as long

Have been playing battlefield 4 and the game and or console is very glitchy - dozens of kick out of games, loosing all player data - but suspect that is a battlefield 4 problem

I would almost consider the Xbox one msyelf - and I've never used or owned one before.

If your kids currently have the 360 they would probally prefer the xbox1
Their accounts will all be transferable and any new games you bought for the 360 can be upgraded to the 1 for 10$ I believe

Xbox one has a larger purpose than just gaming. It has an hdmi input so your tv box will go in, and the xbox will allow for interactive tv watching. And it'll all work through the xbox remote.

Plus it streams media from your computer right onto your tv

I feel that Xbox has more potential for expansion and new purposes

I just picked up an Xbox one yesterday can't hook it up till Christmas Eve tho lol but I am a big xbox fan my ps3 collects dust unless I wish to watch a movie. Personally I like the games on Xbox better I know most are on both platforms but exclusives like gears of war and forza make the deal for me. Heck I'm such an xbox cronic I have 3 360's. Yes I have a problem console hoarding

post-warranty RROD?

or did you treat yourself to one of the newer ones so you could actually hear your games over the sounds of the fans?

my oldie sounds like an aircraft taking off. good thing i play with headphones on although that was already a requirement so the kids don't wake up to the sounds of GTA V lol.

First one got the rrod sent it way got it replaced and sent back then it got it again. And the wife made me but a second so that she didn't have to hear me whine about it. So then we had two one for her one for me so that we could use gta 4 as marriage counselling. She liked trying to kill me. Then last year I had enough points on our credit card to get a gift certificate and I got a 3rd so we had one for each tv instead of buying dvdplayers for each. And this way my niece could also play along with us if she chose. We had the family plan for live which I miss terribly. But the day care kids use my original and I use the large hd new system for most my gaming. Love gta v but not fond of the online system at the moment well some of it. You should add me my gamer tag is also lockrookie

Ps my fans are not loud at all the older ones seem to run better than my newer one tho

I have also been thinking of buying one or the other and I am thinking of going with the xbox because of all the other stuff it offers beside just a game.

reeferfulton 12-18-2013 08:39 PM

i picked up an Xbox one in november.
Been having fun with it , voice control works fairly well , system has some neat features . Very quiet. love the new controller
At the end of the day I use it to play games , Seems to do exactly that. lol .

Would like to also get a PS4 at some point.

Each system tends to get a few exclusives every year that are definitely worth playing.

I have always had both systems, I choose to buy the xbox one first this time around , because there was just something about it that peaked my interest more then the PS4..

again , once you are playing a game (and that game is fun) none of the other details seem to matter

just IMO

i haven't bothered playing it online yet. Not sure if I will to be honest. After my buddies and I all got too busy for Halo online I've sorta lost the interest. I've also never played a game with such an enthralling story. It's funny I've played most of the Halo series online yet I've never played any single player.

I play with a good group of guys gta v online is way different than any online play. Even if rockstar fubared it in the start we just hang out and do stupid stuff.

I'm torn as to which system to buy. I do know that I will be waiting at least until the spring before I purchase either. I had bought my Xbox 360 at launch, and I got the red ring of death. Five times!! I kid you not! It got to a point where I knew Xbox customer service number by heart and I was telling the rep what steps I needed to do in order to send my unit out for "repairs". I was thrilled the first couple if times when they gave me "new" units but even that hot tedious after the third time having the same RROD issue. When my fifth unit failed, they said that I would have to pay for the repairs. That's when I bought my PS3. I def like the Xbox controller more and xbox's online system makes ps network look like an afterthought. PSN just isn't very gamer friendly IMO and I'm no hardcore gamer by any means. I know you pay to play online with Xbox but I'm ok with that. Heck, even the first gen PS3 had their share of hardware problems right?
So I'm very much on the fence as to which system to buy. But I got until spring to figure it out:biggrin:
