Best METAL album ever?
|
Quote:
On the other hand, if I were to say for the "absolute" best metal album ever, I would pick any album of black sabbath or ozzy (blizzard of ozz came to my mind before anything). All the songs are listenable even for non-metal listeners (excluding justin bieber listeners!). |
one of them forsure!!
justice for all is my personal fav! |
Pantera cowboys from hell!

The album Overcome by All That Remains is one of my favorites of all time. Cover to cover all the songs do it for me.
They have put out a few other good ones as well. This one is just tops for me. And I do agree that Metallica has put out some of the best albums of all time, just not that metal anymore. |
Slayer Reign In Blood...How can any other true Metal Head say anything different...

how about made of hate which use to be archeon back in the day?? heres a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5697f8-T7TY they have alot of good gee-tar riffs:) i could go all day lol |
the best metallica was back when dave mustain played with them , taught them how to create hopping spider licks and wrote all the best songsd and solos.
kirk.....well heres his skills at its best lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDZ5Zozejh4 sad really ........ megadeth all the way baby , metallica came mainstream |

My top favorites are Metallica, Slayer, White/Rob Zombie, Danzig, Disturbed, Rammstein, Linkin Park, Sepultra For a mixture or metal/classical/Christmas the Trans Siberian Orchestra is great and if you ever get to see them in concert you will be amazed. Extremely talented musicians. I listen to bit symphonic metal such as Therion and Celtic Frost as well. There is lots of others but I only listen to few of their songs. |

safe to say dave wrote most of the songs with hettfield and burton in fact all the first album and most of ride the lightning. megadeth had no choice but to try and go mainstream , remember the late 80's and early 90's?? brutal for metal with all that grunge etc. lol hettfield , great guitarist and musician , in fact ive seen them in concert over a dozen times and met kirk(wasnt great either lol) and i give full credit to james , hes whats kept metallica going year after year to influence every great metal muscian today:) fact is , kirks no bethoven lol |
My all time fav has to be the TRUE metal GODS Judas Priest or anything from Rob Halford. His other 2 bands, FIGHT & Halford and kick ass, he also had a 3rd band called TWO.
Big Ozzy, Metalica, Megadeath, Maiden, Coheed & Cambria, Striker, Zombie, Hell Ya & Penny Wise fan but you can never forget the pioneers like Sabbath, Dio, Moterhead & naturally Priest. There are so many versions of metal out there but Im really not a big fan of the "scream like your nuts are in a vise" form of metal like Lamb of God. |

As far as Dave goes, who else could get kicked out of a band on the way to stardom and still end up a major star with his own band. Megadeth put out some of the most influential metal albums of the 80's. I think its a true testament to his talent. As for Metallica, Dave & Cliff were the real talent, I'm sure Cliff starting rolling over in his grave in the 90's with the **** Metallica was putting out.
And how come nobody mentions Overkill??? Most underrated American Thrash Metal Band ever. Going since 1980 and still staying true to the music with both studio albums and live shows. Even through the 90's they still did what they always did weather it was mainstream or not. |
EVER? Or personally?

I'm a huge 80-90s metal fan. As I'm reading this thread my wife just tells me she bought tickets to Lady Gaga and that I'm going with her. I tried to argue my way out but apparently she says she's gone to all my "crap" and I owe her. Dammit!!!
|
Duuuudddeee, lol. I feel for ya but unfortunately she's right, lol.
|
Lots of great bands in this thread!
One thing is for sure, what used to be metal back in the day is now considered mellow. Music sure has changed, but certainly not for the better lol Ray |
