Algea magnet on 3/4 inch glass
So my glass is 3/4 thick (guy that build it went overkill, but i dont mind). I was wondering what a good Magnet would be? wanted to use the flipper as it has a scraper build in, but it says max 1/2 inch glass.

Hammerhead or vertex are the only 2 I can think of
|
the vertex triplex will work okay? i like the way it looks, BRS says 5/8

There's no comparison between the Vetrex Hex and the Hammerhead. Go with the Hammerhead. I have both

according to my reef adviser you are correct tho |
I was going to order the triplex, that wont be sufficent? i was hoping not to have to spend to much

so the hammerhead will work with my glass? or will i have to get the tiger shark?
|
I have the HH on my 1/2" glass, so for 3/4, I'd go bigger.
|
Okay well since I'm away on work I'm getting my gf to measure it cuz I feel like it's 3/4 hope it's only 1/2
|
So my glass is only half inch, is the vertex one better or the hammerhead?
|
I used a cheap mag float on my 3/4" tank without issue. It would let go if you went too fast but I kept my glass clean just fine. More passes with less pressure... and cheap did i mention that?
|
I have no experience with the Vertex, been using the hammerhead for years. I like that the hammerhead comes with an extra pad and easily velcros on and off. I've owned my hammerhead for 3 years and just replaced the pad with the spare that it came with, recently.

I have 2 Magfloats and the Vertex Hexplex. And I'll say it again. There's no comparison. Plus the Vertex doesn't float and it's same as the Magfloat. If you use in a circular motion it falls off the inner glass. |
I've never used or even seen the vertex but if it doesn't float then it's a no brainier to me. I use Hammerhead, I've had the same one for many years and it's seen 4 different tank setups so the extra cost seems to be well worth it.
