I'd like to see a retailer carry a comprehensive inventory of parts for the items they sell. For example if Concept carries the Tunze 9016 then all the associated spare parts would be in inventory.

I know that's a PITA to inventory every little widget and gizmo but there's been times where I need part xyz and go back to where I bought the item to find out they don't carry anything but the complete unit. I'm not a rig up a work-around kind of guy, I like to buy the exact part that needs replacing. The response "We can order it in" doesn't work for me, if something is broken most times I can't wait a couple weeks to fix it. I imagine it's a pretty common story.

That's just my feedback, for what it's worth.

that would take alot of space , im not sure about other stores but we had to dedicate a large portion of our building to the glass shop so storage space for inventory wasnt as large as we had liked.

with that said we are always willing to order stuff in if we dont have it , and we are working on carrying some of the more common things , for example on the way are a whole line of parts for the two little fishies reactors including fittings, sponges, caps etc.

we also carry parts for certain things like ecotech vortechs, radions ,water pumps and ro/di parts and obviously aquarium parts and accessories :)

unfortunately we can only carry so much though and we are just getting back carrying all the dry goods we use to before the move and we are planning to expand our drygoods selection inludding replacement parts:)

Yeah I hear you. You'd need a warehouse the size of a Walmart to stock EVERY little thing. But it is really hard to find even common/consumable things locally in Calgary. Like the reactor pieces you mentioned, replacement pumps etc. Anyways, that's just my own private war. Looking forward to seeing the store.

alot of times i will pull the part from an existing product in stock(this gets me in trouble with the boss btw lol) and put the product away untill i can order in the parts that ways the customer isnt stuck waiting.

if we have it in stock i usually dont mind doing this especially if its a part thats stopping a reef or aquarium from its daily functions:)

cheers

Hello Concept, do you guys carry the Cobalt Aquatics Neo-therm heaters?

Werbo 11-21-2013 02:08 PM

I second the motion for replacement parts. Not every screw, bolt and spring but at least the parts that need to be replaced. Impellers, wet side parts for vortechs, tunze parts, ect. Especially for high end equipment (ie. Bubble King skimmers) that have to be shipped from out of country.

When looking at bringing in a new line (ie RLSS) investigate spare parts availability and warrenty procedures.

im not 100% sure if we well stock them. ill contract your suppliers to see if they carry Cobalt Aquatics products.
i could probably special order them.

Alberta-newb 11-21-2013 08:12 PM

You guys are doing great. Although stocking spare parts for everything is great from a consumers perspective, inventory only ties up money and space for a business, I'd rather see more tanks with livestock than spare doo dads ;)

Getting replacement parts in a timely manner is good enough for me.

Aqua-Digital 11-27-2013 06:53 PM

stack of ecotech heading concepts way plus fragging kits.

look out for tropic marin shortly also ;)

Aqua-Digital 12-04-2013 10:38 AM

large new era cans - these are in stock with us so just need ordering for the store ;) probably come in same time as the Tropic marin balling salts.

kaboom 12-04-2013 01:09 PM

How about Fauna Marin LPS pellets? I've been down to the store twice and in the last month and was told this will be in stock any day now. Any update?

Aqua-Digital 12-04-2013 03:15 PM

Try the New Era LPS, you get 500% more and it comes with the New Era pedigree. It is soft you can roll it into balls for any size, and corals are used to eating a soft diet.

michika 12-04-2013 03:39 PM

- Clove oil - just a few small containers for humanitarian reasons. Its really hard to find consistently around the city and it can be incredibly expensive.
- Poly Filter or similar products.
- Replacement glass vials for water testing
- Syringe bodies/sharps (for aiptasia killing, dosing, measuring, applying runny superglue, etc.)
- Underwater epoxy
- Bulk fill options; Carbon, Kalkwasser, Magnesium, Baking Soda, etc. Like a bring your own bucket or container sort of deal.
- Rentals of glass suction cups/glass holders whatever you call them

The Grizz 12-04-2013 11:46 PM

Now you just need to have a payment plan for the Mitras, 3 of them would look killer on my 300 gal.

Aqua-Digital 12-04-2013 11:49 PM

There is a plan
1. walk into store
2. hand over credit card
3. walk out with 3 x Mitras

Sounds like a perfect plan to me ;)

Aqua-Digital 12-04-2013 11:50 PM

Spoke with Concepts today they have full stock of New era on hand with the larger tubs on the way plus the LPS coral diet ;)
