Going to the centre of The Universe.

So it looks like I'll be making a quick business trip to T.O. in a couple of weeks (Nov 19-22nd). Do I fake-know anyone from T.O. that would be interested in coming out for coffee, lunch, dinner ? I'm also hoping to hit up some of the local stores. I'm really only familiar with the ones that are vendors on Canreef. Are there any others that I should try to visit ?

thmh 11-07-2013 10:45 PM

There is a party in my pants on the 20th! :-)

kien 11-07-2013 10:46 PM

Is there anyone in T.O. that I fake-know that isn't a pervert that would be interested in hanging out ? Anyone? Anyone?

Rumor has it that it's a "frag" party. No large colonies

Oooo! i totally forgot about that place. Will definitely try to check it out if their hours jive with mine.

kien 11-18-2013 10:18 PM

So I'm planning to head over to Ripley's Aquarium Tuesday (tomorrow) afternoon. Initially I was planning to go by myself and one other Torontonian, but I just checked their hours and noticed that they were open until 9pm! I was expecting them to be closed earlier than that. At any rate, if anyone else has time and wants to hang there later in the evening let me know and I can adjust my schedule. Otherwise I'll just stick to my original plan to check it out that afternoon.

I'll also probably be wandering the streets of downtown Toronto (Eaton Centre area) one or two evenings over the next few days if anyone wants to hang for coffee.

What a great bunch of people. Speaking of Mad Jelly, here's one of them punks hard at work. These guys never stop working (or eating). Working and eating. That's what they do.

Thanks again for hauling me around to all those great stores guys. As I've said a bajillion times, you guys are so lucky to have such an amazing collection of stores and a great group of enthusiasts. I'm so Mad Jelly, but you already knew that.

Delphinus 11-21-2013 04:10 AM

I'm, uh, Mad Jelly you got to see all those stores. When *I* went to Toronto for a site trip, all the good LFS's were closed by the time I got out of work stuff. :(

I bet I don't even wanna know what cool shwag you're coming home with! :p I call shenanigans .. or something... :p

thmh 11-21-2013 04:21 AM

Oh man i feel bad for kien......he got the uncensored version of MJC for 2 days ....eeekkk xD not sure how much more he can take.!!

mrhasan 11-21-2013 05:43 AM

I actually wasn't that cold at all. That just happened to be the coat I left Calgary with when it was minus 20 below there. And I like scarves. I do stick out though. Nothing new there.

There were definitely shenanigans. These guys live in a constant state of shenanigans. And as for swag, I'm pretty sure I'm going home with some crabs from Mad Jelly Corals.

So I did end up going to Ripley's Aquarium and was quite impressed by it! Yet another reason to be jealous of Toronto. I'll post some pics later.

To wrap up my brief trip to T-dot-OH-myyyy, I made a stop at Canada Corals before flying out.

http://i1002.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3clmepd0.jpg

I have to say, OH Myyyy.. indeed. This is by far the best reef storefront I have ever seen. As soon as you set foot in the door you immediately know that this place is something different, something special. Sure, it's just a fish/coral store, but the execution is by far the best I have seen in the business. Imagine if Tiffany's and The Apple Store had a baby and sold corals. That's Canada Corals. There attention to detail is evident in every facet of their store, their corals, husbandry and their presentation. From the posh sitting room in their reception area to their clean, modern coral beds to their well stocked, organized, and tidy product wall. It all exudes class. And on top of all of that, their coral beds were filled with some of the best corals I have ever laid eyes on.

If you live in TO and haven't made your way over to their store yet, you need to! If you find yourself in TO on vacay or business, you need to! Your mind will be blown. Consider this your warning.

Wow. Now that's a review! Thanks!

It's nice to know that some people appreciate the extra effort required to accomplish something different.

We appreciate the kind words Kien.

My pleasure! It's obvious that you two were thinking outside the glass-box with your storefront and that was refreshing to see and experience :-)
