250 gallon. What would you put in this size aquarium.

As the title says I'm curious as to what you would put in this size aquarium, as my tank is almost read for fish.

Aquattro 11-06-2013 10:47 PM

Lots of corals!

lpsreefer 11-06-2013 10:48 PM

you looking for predator fish?
triggers, angels, and what not.

if you want more of a safe reef,
i would go with tangs, gobies, blennies, anthias, rabbitfish, wrasses.

eli@fijireefrock.com 11-06-2013 11:05 PM

I would have a full reef system with schooling fish of all sizes...oh yeh LPS galore with couple branching softies zoas all over for the rock covers.
I believe of lots of rocks Pukani, branch and shelves every where,...hiding and swimming area for the fish.:biggrin:

Some pics. Not the best as I am unable to up load from my phone, and can't use the Mac computer to save my life.

mulch123 11-07-2013 12:57 PM

There is currently a mean black and white damsel and 2 gobies.

reefwars 11-07-2013 12:58 PM

I would do a snail tank .....10000 snails lol

mulch123 11-07-2013 01:00 PM

Lots of snails. lol Still have to add lots of live rock but its a 2 hour drive to get it. There is about 200lbs in there now with 40 pounds more in the sump.

Why so much rock?

If its not dry rock and good quality live rock you can prob sell 75 lbs of what you have now unless your going after a certain look , as for filtration your good long ago.

mulch123 11-07-2013 01:15 PM

Goal is to cover mid way up to the back of the tank so you don't see as many wires. Wishing i had painted the back.

An idea if you like is to place a piece of black 1/8 acrylic you only need 1/8" clearance to slide it in , wouldn't have to be professional just functional , nothing wrong with lots of rock don't get me wrong but your not stuck .

With more rock you'll have less room to scape and less room for fish , keep in mind 99% of people don't max out their biological filtration a little rock goes a long way .

Throw filtration out of the equation and choose the look you want after all your looking to create a mini reef something natural , alot will have to go with your dimensions and overflow placement

Either way have fun and think 3d when scaping , canyons/caves/shelves/overhangs etc

Cheers

Tank looks sweet...better question is what wouldn't I put in a tank that size.

Madreefer 11-07-2013 04:46 PM

mulch123 11-07-2013 04:51 PM

But then what do I do with it he is supper mean even bites me.

Leah 11-08-2013 10:49 AM

Bake, boil or barbeque

mulch123 11-08-2013 11:18 AM

Leah, how do you the chromis in your tank ?

Leah 11-11-2013 06:46 PM

Not sure what you are asking, but I am guessing... that you are asking how I like the Chromis in my tank. I really like them, true they are not as colorful as my other fish, but pretty in there own way.

no need to pant the back of the tank.

Is the back easily accessible? If yes, go to a signs store an buy yourself a piece of mylar and apply to the back.

I just bought a custom built cube from OBD and the back is black. They put a piece of mylar on the back. Looks really sharp!!
