Help
My cinnamon palys are closed up and look waxy/shiny, everything else looks fine, no changes in chemistry.
|
So what are your parameters?
Tell us more about your system, its size, its lighting, its flow. Or do you have a tank journal we can look at? |

in short time they will be normal:) |
OK thanks for the reply, I've had them for a few years now and this is the first time, maybe the kenya tree stung them, I'm trying to give it away but no luck, maybe I should try selling it.

i have the true cinnamon El Grandis paly and i wouldnt sell a polyp to my grandmother as her last dying wish(harsh i know) lol im sure will come around soon, if they stay closed for more than a few days then there is an issue, either water quality( not seeing it though) or possibly some other issue(fish, pests etc.) |
if theres no other coral issues then i say you are fine:)

mine too are the true cinnamon El Grandis |
not sure if they are El Grandis but they are the size of a loonie when open.
|
i have one thats almost twice the size of a toonie wow
|
500lbs liverock for a 90g tank overkill?
|

can one of you guys frag 2 heads for me?

Two things that can help zoanthids and palythoas are dosing with vitamine C and adding Strontium if it is low. Mine is always low so I dose it each week. It is best to test for strontium before adding it though. I noticed when I was adding strontium my zoanthids were going downhill and I was adding strontium they would come back strong.
|
I do dose strontium, I try to keep it at 10, pain in the butt test though, my other palys and zoos do very well, cinnamon palys started opening back up today, I think the kenya tree stung them.

Palys
Palys/zoas are very strange, sometimes they will just melt away for no reason.
|
Keep the zoa's detritus free they can collect a ton.
I swear by reef fuel by aquavitro - the stuff is amazing and works - just use 1/2 the recommended dose - and insure aeration My sps,zoa and lps all increased growth and colours |
