I'll never understand city people

BC hydro is going to cut down a tree in my yard as it is too close to the hydro lines and I told them go for it already have a neighbour who is pi$$ed about hydro cutting down my tree and pi$$ed at me cause I am letting hydro do it and all because my tree is nice looking told my neighbour that if he wants the tree he can pay for relocating it otherwise QQ.

I grew up in the country I know all about power outages so if hydro wants to cut the tree then they can cut the damn tree I care more about having power than looks city people have no clue at times. I bet he will be like people in the lower mainland and sue to have the tree replaced.

So basically.....you are letting them cut "your" tree and your neighbor got ****ed? First world problem....

Yup and this is how petty it can get in BC in the last 3 yrs there have been over 30 court cases heard of neighbours suing the person who removed the tree/bush from their own yard to have it replaced most of which took place in the lower mainland up north not as prevalent but this neighbour is right upset and very anal so it is very plausible he could sue me I wouldn't put it past him

Seriously?! They can sue you for mowing down your own lawn?

Compromise.

Have BC Hydro cut the tree so it falls on his yard. That way he can have your tree.:twised::twised::twised: and you can keep your power going during a storm.

We let a developer remove some trees as they were encroaching the property line, and causing us big roofing problems
A neighbor cried and, once I tersely told them about our recent $8000.00 roof repairs, they kept quiet

You're allowed to remove trees based on your municipality's bylaws
Check your stipulations
Mine, for instance, allow for an owner to remove trees after only 1 year of property ownership

Follow the rules and then tell your neighbor to get stuffed
Plus, Hydro has the power to remove whatever they like so if limb removal isn't enough, they'll just drop it in your yard without a word and leave you the mess

Ask your neighbor to sue the nature at first; I heard that it burns down trees from time to time :surprise:

I'm a city dweller. I'd love for hydro to come cut down every damn tree on my lot!!

Dearth 10-03-2013 02:56 AM

Unfortunately my neighbour lives across the road from me so no dropping tree on his property and as was already said BC Hydro has final say on any trees within xx range of power lines no matter what anyone wants or says.

I had words with my neighbour tonight again and told him that hydro has the right to remove trees if he doesn't like it take it up with them otherwise QQ and deal with the lost tree also helped some of my other neighbours told him to shut up too.

Go on one of the charity web sites that lets you buy a tree in someones name , email him the link and tell him to go nuts ! He can buy you a tree , me a tree , no more Christmas shopping family all gets a tree !

Curious if you can change my name to Hydro on canreef... I will come over with my chainsaw and do as you please.. my disclaimer being trees have minds of their own and fall where they please.

I felled trees over a spring/summer for a busy N.Van company and think I remember how to miss structures
Supply me a chainsaw and I'll gladly come spend a weekend with you, provided there's beers with that grass-fed BBQ
But don't try to feed me any of that Gluten-laden bread :boink: ...
