We need 10 participants to receive the discounted rates.

If you don't have a BRS account then you can go there and register.

We need 10+ members to qualify for the group buy pricing. Your order is still shipped direct to your door as it normally is. The only difference you'll notice is that your items are nicely discounted when the group buy is activated.

Well I need supplies fairly quickly. Once the group buy starts I think there's about about a 5 day window to order. It will depend on how soon we get to 10.

Since what I need is a skimmer to replace an existing failing one and a specific small return pump ... and some coral food I want to try but is twice the price or more here in Canada ...

Anyone else is free to join the buy before I submit this list to BRS. I will submit the names to them tomorrow morning.

If it's accepted it should start on the 24th and run through the following Monday (30th).

And just like that, no point to buying. Unless they are offering at least 15% off every item.

it's pricey to ship from BRS I don't think that's news to most. In my case i have always used their chemicals and want to continue doing that even tho it is expensive. I trust the product =) Getting a nice discount and ordering 5g pails helps ease that pain.

And I think the discount comes out to something like 22% off in the case of the bulk chems. I normally get 11% off as a regular purchaser since I am what BRS calls a 'preferred member'. I think it is still policy there that as soon as you participate in one of these buys you achieve preferred status.

You must not do much bulk chemical buying.

There is no place in Canada that reliably offers high quality chemicals in bulk.
Even with the shipping, prices are comparable even when you can find it offered up here.
When I order from BRS, I can place the order and forget about it. I know it will show up.
I don't wonder what's happening with my order.

the application has been submitted. i'm sure as long as there are no issues with the names and brs account email addresses that were supplied to me we should be good to go!

balls.. all the things I want to order are not discounted for a group buy. -_-

BRS mistakenly initiated the group buy starting today. Everyone is free to order starting today but I've been told they will resubmit the group buy next week as well.

How do you find out what if anythign is discounted?

Thanks Brett for organizing the group buy. I am in desperate need of some bulk chems and the 21% off takes quite a bit of the bite out of ordering the 5 gallon buckets.

Once you sign onto the group buy, you wait for an email from BRS confirming the group buy.
Then when you log onto the BRS website, whenever you choose an item, the price will reflect what the discount is.
There is no cost to joining a group buy.

Example:
Calcium Chloride 5 gallon pail is regular $84.99
Buy three and they are $76.99 each
If you are a preferred customer (that is, if you have previously participated in a group buy) the price is $76.99 for 1
If you are in a new group buy, the price is $67.99 each, no further volume discount.

The delivery guy is still going to hate you no matter the savings lol.

Seriously though, thanks again for organizing the group buy. I can't imagine what this would have cost to have shipped to my door in Regina as there was 5 boxes totalling just under 200 lbs. Good thing I work close to the US border :biggrin:

yeah i paid $200 just to ship my pails it hurts for sure. the ups guy was so ****y hauling the boxes to my doorstep. almost made me feel better!
