Is this a commensal crab ?

Tonight I found this cute little dude in a 'new to me' piece of LR
I'm assuming it's a dude I should put in my DT
Last pic is the best
And Ya, I didn't scrub my hands well enough after work tonight

There's i thread I made a couple weeks ago about some crabs I found in an acro, if you can find it there's a link to a write up on different crabs you'll find in reef tanks, it'll have all the info you need on him

Wow, that's a cool looking crab!
I was told almost no crab is going to be reef safe?

Its not exactly true there are definitely crabs that are not safe for your reef and certainly even some FOWLR tanks as well. Crabs with hair on their bodies or feathery appendages are to be considered NOT reef safe and should be removed. Typically most but not all crabs with smooth shells are considered reef safe but there are rules to the exceptions.

Best bet is to remove from your system if your not sure

Pretty sure that's a porcelain crab, harmless filter feeder.

Here's a link I picked up, lots of pics, but yours isn't on the list.

Thanks everybody for the replies
I'll go with the majority and into the DT it goes, right after I sex it

I think noirsphynx may be right and it's a Porcelain of some kind
That means I now have 3 different ones

Yup, pretty positive on it being a porcelain, I've seen quite a few variances working at the LFS and have purchased a few myself. I'm pretty sure porcelains are just about impossible to identify gender wise because if I remember correctly they are more closely related to shrimps than crabs.

OK thanks, good to know
I found another in the rock so I've baited a glass
If the first one is about 1/2", the second is smaller than 1/8" :surprise:
