Odd Package In Salt Bucket

I've used 100s of buckets of Instant Ocean salt and found 2 packages in the bottom of my last bucket.

I'm kind of confused as to why they were in there. Has anybody else found the same.
And yes, I did rip open and..... well yea it's salt.

Perhaps an error in shipping? This may be the bucket of "Colombian" salt I ordered

Dearth 08-26-2013 09:24 PM

Last bucket of instant ocean I got had 3 packaged shirts and 2 small bags of packaged fish flakes

Very interesting, its like the crack jack boxes and digging to the bottom of the box for the toy!

Hiding drugs in buckets of salt? Genius

neoh 08-26-2013 09:33 PM

check the side of the bucket for a sticker that mentions contents. I didn't notice the last bucket I bought came with a salt scoop - I like it!

odd package

Probably bonus bags of salt. Like the 2.5 gallon pre-calculated packages. Seriously, WHO KNOWS????? Y it happens like that? I hope its bonuses and not drunk workers......

It was full of a white crystal powder so I am assuming it was or my fish have been on the best power trip ever!!!!

Well there's a few people that roll their buckets or mix them before use. I'm too lazy and think those that do are over thinking things. But when I got to the bottom of this bucket I thought "oh chit!! Is there something that the manufacturer forgot to mix in when filling up this pail?" But everything appears to be normal in the tank. Which now brings up the question on the latest poll. Nope still not going to check fresh made saltwater. And no I never sniffed it, if so i would have prefered the other kind of nose burn. But I tasted it and tastes like salt

Instant ocean is always throwing random stuff in their salt buckets usually weird fish food, I wish they would just through in some more calcium and magnesium.

spit.fire 08-27-2013 06:31 AM

I miss my old tank :( I would just do 160g water changes so I wouldn't have to roll my salt buckets

Just between you and me, even if you do a 1g change, you don't need to roll the bucket  Silliest thing ever!

Yea I have alot of the t-shirts. The food goes straight in the garbage. But good point on the calcium and magnesium

Proteus 08-27-2013 12:54 PM

I could never understand how rolling a bucket shifts stuff from bottom to top

Bill 08-27-2013 02:14 PM

extra salt

Thinking it may be extra trace elements? Strontium, Magnesium, etc.?

Why would they put an extra isolated bag of salt in a bucket that already contains salt?

Magickiwi 08-27-2013 02:35 PM

I want a free t-shirt! :( All I got in my bucket of salt was salt...

Myka 08-27-2013 10:36 PM

Did ya think to email Instant Ocean and ask? Looks like bonus salt to me. :)

Can't say as I peed ........... but I smugly snorted (and not in the Columbian salt kinda way) as to why I use Fluval Sea.

mohammadali 08-28-2013 11:45 AM
