How many fish in a ten gallon?
Hi I have two firefish living in a ten gallon.I just bought a neon goby and a clownfish is this good stocking for now?
Standard rule of thumb is one fish per 10 gallons for SW but that also depends on how well your filtration/skimming is personally I would not put any more fish in there as it will possible lead to territorial disputes and possibly a heavy bio load
I won't put anymore fish. But for now is it okay?I can give the neon goby to a pet shop.
It should be ok neon gobies stay small and are relatively easy tank mates to get along with just watch for fish stress and signs of aggression
I would trade away one of your fish, and pair up your clownfish. IMO they should always be sold in pairs
What fish I love my firefish...
I'd get rid of the clown for a clown goby that stays small. There's no rule of thumb, it's more common sense.
I don't like clown gobys.
Do you know anywhere I could trade two firefish for a black clown??? (In Edmonton).
Unless the Firefish are a breeding pair they won't get along for very long. Maybe you lucked out and got a male and female. I think your tank is overstocked with the current stock. I also think Clownfish should always be in pairs. I think all fish do best with a mate, it's just tough pairing up many of them.
Thats why I wanna trade the firefish.
the clowns in that sized tank will get mean and will bite you , fire fish will fight to the death if they arnt a mated pair as well .
I don't think so about the clownfish. The firefish aren't being mean to each other so I think they are a pair.
If the firefish weren't a pair one would be dead by now.

If you had to ask how many fish you can have in a 10G, AFTER adding them, this leads me to think you could use a bit more experience/research in the hobby which leads me back the my original question. |
Is upgrading to a 20 gallon an option? If so you'd have more option stock wise. I had 2 clowns in an uncovered 20 gallon. Everything was fine for a few weeks then noticed some aggression. Didn't think much of it being pretty new to salt water. Woke up one day to clown jerky on the carpet. Now I have a perc and black perc in a 90 gallon and they get along fabulously.
If its not an option then I would keep only a firefly and get a gobie of some sort (research first as no all are suitable) or even a cardinal. I find live aquaria Is a decent database and even if the description isn't what you want then read the testimonials people write. |
NO upgrading is not a option. The fish seem to be happy not breathing hard.
