Invested?! Need ID please
Hi guys,
Was doing a water change tonight and flipped over one of my corals/rocks and noticed it was invested with these white bubbles... I touched it and they popped very easily. I took a closer look and I noticed some small baby pod like things inside them... they looked kindof like eggs....... however there's nothing in that tank since its my frag tank and there is only a 6 line wrasse, stary blenny, and arrow crab. If anyone could ID these for me that would great, I hope they aren't pest... or I'm going to toss that rock out ASAP. Pictures attached and thanks in advance! http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...psd38fb789.jpg http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3ccc63ac.jpg If you look closely you can see the tiny eyes/bodies forming.... |
I could be way off the mark and no expert but I am thinking your crab laid some eggs
|
and I think you mean infested!
|
eggs
not if they hatch, raises them and then sells them
|
Those are eggs of some sort, look like little brown tadpoles in the sacs...

Guess I'll have to let them hatch to find out then eh? |

really boggles my mind, I'm scared that suddenly it'll POP and i'll have 100 spiders crawling around......... |
My guess is tunicates. They come in many colors and sizes. They are a harmless filter feeder.

does anybody else see the brown spots in other places or is it just me , the size shape and color of the brown spots look like flatworms to me but I can only spot one on each egg and maybe some eggs popped . Arrow crabs hold there eggs so there not that could be truncates , maybe look elsewhere for flatworms.

eggs
it looks like each brown spot also has a small brown tail-look up crab embryos or your wrasse or blenny embryo

someone also told me it was just bubble algae that was not getting any light and not able to photosynthesize. However I noticed there's small embryo like things inside the eggs as well, this is soo creepy. At least they won't hatch right? |
eggs
as long as they don't jump out the tank and cover your face
|
keep us posted when they hatch. do you have a microscope you can get ahold of?
|
eggs
if your ever out in burnaby you could put one under my microscope.you also might get a better id if you take a picture of them under water
|
Hey Bill, I'll snap a photo of them underwater tonight and maybe you guys can have a better look.
And yes as long as they don't crawl out to get me. ... It is an open to tank haha Sent from my SGH-I317M using Tapatalk 4 |
