At what value does your tank temperature leave your comfort zone?

In other words, when do you start to panic about your tank's temperature ?

My 93g cube is sitting at 82. Don't have any sps left after a semi crash while I was in Bali. Lps and fish don't seem to mind, but if it gets any higher I'll start panicking. Thank god I'm running LED's.

agreed. my temp doesn't change at all no matter how long my light is on. i can't imagine what my temp would have reached the other day if i was still using halides.

83 is my panic point as well. It hovers around 81-82 on really hot days like yesterday, but is typically around 80-81 I think. Today it maxed out at 80.6. If I recall correctly the ocean's reefs average highs are around 82-86 ? OR somewhere there abouts.

i'll bet if your reef is always at 83 it's no big deal. as someone said the swing seems to be deadlier than the peak temp if the swing is large enough.

84-85 I get slightly worried, I had a dwarf fuzzy lion fish survive 95 a few years back but nothing else survived

I was fretting when one of my tanks would get up to 82 during a warm spell. My other tank was on a chiller, so temps were always in the 78 - 79 range.

Then just last week (before the real hot spell hit) I combined my tanks into one sump with the chiller. Now both stay down in that 78 - 79 range. In fact, over night had my heater come on a couple times as the temp dipped below 78 (heater set to come at 77.9).

And we keep our house central A/C at 74. So I am a happy camper now.

My tank goes from 78 to 82 every day, when it reaches 84-85 I start to panic

Same with me. With my old MH lights, I would switch to reverse photoperiod at that point and turn on my AC unit.

I want to know who is panicking when their tank reaches 78 degrees!! I would be panicked 365 days a year if that were my case
