Martin, just curious, is this the rail made of steel or aluminum? With the open hole what prevents it from rusting on the inside (if it is made of steel)? Do you have plugs for these holes? Is it powder coated or painted?

Its made from steel. We have not had any rust issues on the inside with any of our hanging systems. They are spray painted. You could always add a little more paint to any area you feel may be exposed to water.

Im new here , but is it just more or are those prices out of this world ?

we are talking spray painted 1 inch tube , 2 bends and etc ,

For that price i would want stainless hardware and powder coated at least

Just my opinion

The tube doesn't bend itself and the pieces don't weld themselves either, there is some work involved in making things like this.

How does it sit on the top of the tank?

1) Is it metal on glass or is there a cushion in between them. I guess you could attach the soft side of velcro or some other padding afterwards to the inside if there is nothing.

2) Is their a fastener that prevents the light from moving back and forth if you bump it. To get an idea of what I am talking about, you can look at the maxspect mounting rail for comparison. They have plastic screws that really fasten it to the top of your tank so once it's in place it's not moving.

i def like it but heres an idea ..... why not make the middle an insert that ways you could take the hanger with you on an upgrade or change the overall length by having different size inserts available. also i would have the sides as inserts as well so the height can be adjusted, maybe 2-4" inserts could be available to change heights.

rubber padding underneath would be a nice touch as well on the feet so it doesnt scratch trim or glass.

1) There are rubber feet supplied so it is not sitting directly on the glass
2) Remember this is a custom system. Built to your exact tank length. There should be no room for movement as it is cut and bent for your tank length whereas the Maxspect is one mass produced product to fit all tank sizes.

Thanks for your opinion unfortunately making it extendable in the center and putting a joint in there causes a problem with sagging. Rubber feet are already supplied. Extenders could definitely be built for the sides if someone wanted to change the height.
