Ripped off from ups and apex
I had to send my apex display to get fixed so I sent it in they fixed it and sent it back to me all covered by warrintee. Well low and behold the charge me dutiy. There's no duty on a replacement or repair the duty is already paid on the original item. This is the problem with some Of these venders all they care about is u buying there item when it brakes u get "oh u have to contact the manufacture" so who's fault? Ups or apex? Just my 2 cents. If your not gonna help me fix the product I'm not gonna buy from u.

I would first talk to UPS and notify them that it was a repair and that duty should not have been charged. They should reverse the charge (some paper work proving repair only may be require). If the costumer support rep is no help, discuss with a supervisor.
I bought a box of bulbs for a pinball machine, $14 worth. The customs label looked like $114 so I got charged duty/tax. All I needed to do was mail in the form (bill showing the duty I paid) with the receipt showing the $14 value and I was refunded the difference. Hope that helps, Jason |
Find the original shipping info to Apex, this way you can prove that it was sent for RMA

Are you sure UPS did not charge you brokerage fees? Since Neptune is made in USA there should be no duties.

Ill have to look at the paper work when I get home from work my wife was home when ups came either way what Neptune said was I pay the shipping down they pay it back. There shouldn't have been any charge at the door IMO. (and so everyone knows I did NOT buy this at reef supplies ;) )
Also by reading that chart the value of the item should b $0 because u didn't buy it.$0=$0 |
UPS is famous for their $50 brokerage fee.

LOL that is why I will never order anything from the states unless they will ship with usps

I had no issue with duty from ups on repair of my power bar the only issue was ups screwing up... Talk to Paul use twitter to voice a complaint and you should get a refund of he duty.
It's not Neptune systems fault it's ups trying to screw ppl over one mishap at a time. If you contact Paul I'm sure he will help you straighten it out |
Most likely brokerage fees as others have guessed. UPS charges it on everything shipped from the states. When there is an actual value attached to an item I've seen them charge as much as 50% of the value of the product in brokerage fees even though it is the same form filled out regardless of value. I will not have anything shipped from the US by UPS. If this is what the cost turns out to be, Neptune had nothing to do with it and won't see a cent of the charge. UPS makes me mad too, that's why they don't get any of my business.

I sent an apex Jr back and it was returned no charges at all.
