This sucker doesnt look like its doing too good in my tank. The part that is facing the MH is turning white. Can someone give me an id so i can figure out if its getting to much light or not enough flow?

Looks like and encrusting monti that has browned out, unless it's of the brown variety. They typically don't need that much light. All sps generally like good flow. The polyps look like they are fully extended so I wouldn't worry about too much.

my guess is some kind of leptastrea. don't know too much about them though i'm afraid

Hard to say for sure but it could be Cyphastrea or Montastrea. Mine, both species, seem to like medium to shaded light intensity and medium flow.

Looks like Cyphastrea to me. since it is quite a dark color I would suggest it probably likes a lower light. The light color on the coral looks like bleaching to me, probably from too much light.

Milad, that's the cyphastrea you got from me. Cyphastreas tend to be lower light corals so put it in some shade and the base should turn purple again.

looks like goniopora, and if it is, its not doing good, they have low survival rate in the aquarium

def not goniopora:)

I'm with everyone on the Cyphastrea ID.

thanks for info Ron, I had it at top of tank with medium flow area. I just moved it to bottom of tank to a high flow area. Is that ok? its not in the shade, just at the very bottom on a flat rock thats on the sandbed.
