180 Gallon

Thought I would start a tank journal for my 180 build. This tank came into Aquatic Addictions and as soon as I saw it I snatched it up. I'm sure a lot of you have seen the tank in the store. The rock is Reef Ceramics and is aquascaped to perfection. I am planning to add a few more pounds of live rock to seed the tank and also for a little more natural look.

The sump is 40 gallons.

We went with a Vertex 280 skimmer.

The system is running off of a reeflo dart pump and is plumbed with 1" 1/2 pvc.

The best part of the whole system is the lighting. We went with the AquaPerfekt Photon Plus 72" 3x250w SE HQI 12x39w T5 Fixture. Overkill? I think not. I don't have any pictures of the lights as of yet. The lights are on order and should be in soon. They are the same lights that are on the SPS tank at Aquatic Addictions.

The tank was filled with a garden hose and tap water and flowing using H2O salt. Here is a picture of all the "stuff". Sort of a whatever picture.

So far that is as far as we have gotten. I will post more when the lights come in. Everything came from Aquatic Addictions. "plug" Thanks Nikki and Dan and your wonderful employee.

Lookin goooood. I like the look of the "man-made" rock wall. I know its a little late but, they say you shouldnt use garden hose to move your water around. They leech chemicals....you know that funny taste when you drink from the garden hose? Really curious about your light, you will have to let us know how you like it.

x2 on the garden hose info..heard that many times before too.

The build is looking great. I was looking at the fixture at AA and it sure did a great job of pushing light into that tank. I bet you'll love it...at least until you need to replace 3 MH bulbs and 12 T5 bulbs...lol.

Looks mint! Can't wait to come down and take a look at it. Things always seem to look way better in person :) Can't wait till this one is fully stocked.

Looks great, I like the rockwork  Can't wait to see it up and running

Thanx for the concern about the garden hose. The water is not in contact long enough for there to be any worries about leaching chemicals. There are many systems out there that have been filled with garden hoses and never had any problems. I'm just glad I didn't post the pictures of me bleaching the tank with Javex. LOL!

I eyeballed this tank at AA as well lol but you'd bought it allready! Good score, can't wait to see it up and running!!

Bought the tank as I carried it off the truck.

Picked up some live rock the other day from Aquatic Addictions. Trying to cycle the tank with as much rock as possible. I was thinking of using PVC structure to add some more archways. Will post more pictures of the progress soon.
