These pest looking growths have been growing on some of my rocks for years and never bothered anything but lately seem to be increasing in numbers.

Can you see them good enough here or do I need better pics?
Thanks

I have those too. I'm not really sure what they are or how bad they'll get.

??

Are you talking about the little green things in the rock..pic is a little difficult for me to see.

christyf5 02-08-2008 11:54 PM

Yeah they kind of look like little tiny green palythoa but their tentacly bits are longer and they are more spaced apart. Man that was a horrible description.

Yes I have a few of them too, I thought they were like a little anenome but I am not sure. I saw a thread today but I cant remember which one which had a close up of them. I think the name started with the letter "M" but my oldtimers has kicked in and I am not sure.

Some sort of button polyp/zoanthus/protopalythoa.....who knows. Can't really see the pic very well :)

X-Treme 02-09-2008 12:21 AM

Almost looks like a little featherduster to me....

Clarify

What we need here is a close-up:biggrin:

Its the little orange/brown polyps. Yes, they do look like sometype of colonial anenome. But they have never grown large. Not feather dusters or any worm based creature.

Dont seem to be bothering corals yet. Does yours Christy, as you have lots more coral growth than mine. Will see what I can do about a decent pic.

dsaundry 02-09-2008 12:39 AM

Hmm

Mine are bigger than that I think. About 1" around..and lots of green..
maybe altogether different....Close up pic if you can..
