Vancouver Tap Water TDS
Can someone please do me a favor and measure the TDS in your tap water? I just bought a new handheld TDS meter and want to be sure the numbers I'm getting are within reason. I want to get a baseline TDS for the tap water before I fill up my tank with RO/DI water so I can track the efficiency of my unit based on the rejection. I kind of expected the TDS to be higher here in Vancouver than what I'm showing after testing (reads 13ppm). If things are actually that low, and stay that low year round (presumably it's worse in the Summer when the reservoirs are drying up and running lower), you could get away with a single Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Tap Water Purifier instead of the usual sediment pre-filter, carbon, post carbon, RO membrane, and DI cart.

I am at 17 in Cloverdale.
The GVRD has 3 main water sources and depending on where you live will dictate which site your water comes from. Tom R |
Thanks guys! I'm in Kerrisdale and by the responses this looks like a pretty typical Vancouver TDS reading.

10 here in the City of Parks (Surrey!) :p
I use a Tap Water Purifier for my 38G reef and I have been on the same filter for almost a year! It would be fine for a tank up to 55G I think. |
south granville gives me 5... and always 0 of of the rodi unit
