Acro ID?

Can anyone take a stab at ID'ing this acro? I thought maybe it was tortuosa but now that I've seen some torts I think it's something else. All I know is it came from Bali.

PS. Please don't mind the mushrooms ... I got rid of MOST of them now although it seems complete eradication has somewhat eluded me.

That abrolhosensis is unreal! Where do I get me one of those!?!

rickjames 04-04-2006 01:29 PM

That bali acro looks exactly like the one I got but I got a whole colony. Same color, same coralite shape, etc. It looks like in the picture it hasn't encrusted much, is that correct? I have noticed the same thing with mine.

If i had to guess I would say formosa but there are so many others that look like it...

Wow, some smokin' pictures. Of course now I want some of those too.

I was actually thinking there's a chance this piece may have been A. hoeksemai. The corralites just sort of look the same to me. Here are some pics:

Here's a piece that I suspect might be A. hoeksemai (my own picture):

I'm no ID expert, but dang.. nice piece Tony  [do i see aptasia in the backround??]

P.S: Did you get my PM this morning?

Delphinus 04-04-2006 07:10 PM

Yep .. in that picture yes you do. It's an old picture though, taken back in the beginning of December. I think I have 2 aiptasia's left, the peppermints I got back then seem to have taken care of the rest. I should just nuke these last 2 but I'm too lazy. Right now if I took a picture of that tank you'd go .. "Holey valonia Batman." I have 4 of the laziest emerald crabs in there apparently. It's really, really bad, I'm not sure how I'm going to fix it actually. :( I guess I just need to get a move on with my new tank instead of focusing on fixing what's wrong with this one.

OCDP 04-04-2006 07:52 PM

Ah, don't feel so alone my friend. I have plenty of pest algae, including Valonia hahah. Also, cyano, bits of hair algae, bryopsis... oh yeah, the fun stuff!

I have used the kalk you gave me and it has for the most part killed the aptasia. If I had a peppermint, I am sure he would take care of the remainders. I may have to look for one around town.

You could try here. There is quite a bit of info and the pics are of the brown variates but lots of info
